1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

You blindly missed the key words, O foolish one. Read it again and tell me now if you do not believe the written Word.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

So naive and undiscerning. Commandment keeping nor works don't GET you saved in the beginning. But after you come to Jesus and are saved and have received the Holy Spirit how can you miss all the scriptures that say we do keep the commandments? 1 John 3:21-24. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Sorry, but I don't expect Calvinists to believe the Word of God, nor examine what the apostles mean, only Calvin's TULIP nonsence. cc: @MatthewG Didn't know you were a Calvinist seeing as you liked his post, unless you are just naive.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Both the person who does their own will and sin, and those who quench the Spirit are in peril. They are both sinning willfully. Did Jesus pay for their right to sin willfully? Or did Jesus take away their old sins, and now they are committing new willful sins. What happens to those sins? Must...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

You need to learn to discern key words used by the apostle to know what they mean, and why there is no contradiction. There are many you talk the talk and tell lies, then there are those who walk in the light and there is no sin in them. 1 John 2: My little children, these things I write to...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

You haven't said that you don't apply these to yourself, so what is it you believe?

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Grace there is a true definition of God's Grace of the New Covenant, and a false one by false teachers. What is your definition to see who you are believing? Some believe the theology of receiving the Holy Spirit, but have never experienced it. Its and event, not a belief.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Grace, I want to address you separately because you are the most in peril of believing false doctrine. We Must be born again, and that means we Must receive the Holy Spirit indwelling us. The church fathers that taught you twisted the doctrine you just quoted and don't even mention the Spirit...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

I agree with the rest of your post. But which is the best translation: "Unpractised" is not in the any translation. Please answer the question.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

What is the difference in understanding and truth between us not practicing sin, or not committing sin? Note the context of this chapter and what type of sin John is talking about 1 John 3:4 sins of lawlessness. What does changing the word to practice allow us to do. Of course, cannot commit sin...

Why does darkness not comprehend the light?

You sound like you are against purity. Don't you want to be like Jesus and go to heaven? If anyone was a purist, He was. He even said Be perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect. And Peter said of Him in 1 Peter 1:16, "be holy for I am holy." If you really want to know something true, KNOW...

Why does darkness not comprehend the light?

The key in repentance is wanting to be like Christ, not just have him take you to heaven. We can't just sin, repent, and sin again. That won't take you to heaven. We need the infilling of the Holy Spirit to never commit a major sin again and gradually become like Christ 2 Peter 1:5-7. Those are...

Why does darkness not comprehend the light?

True, but we can't do what He says until we repent and are filled with His Spirit. Acts 2:38.
  17. 1stCenturyLady

Why does darkness not comprehend the light?

Yes, we first need to apprehend in order to comprehend.
