1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

That is our western thinking, and totally incompatible with the eastern thinking and writing style of the Hebrew Apostles. You need advanced training if you are stuck in your western mindset in order to know what God is saying through His apostles.

    A polite question for pretribbers

Here is how it is broken down, but mentioned in two different sections. Then the persecution of the woman continues in the first part of Revelation 3. The Book of Revelation is a bunch of visions, and they are not in chronological order, but sometimes say the same thing two different ways with...

    A polite question for pretribbers

I thought so too at one time, but they are actually the same 3.5 years period mentioned each for different reasons.

    A polite question for pretribbers

When you read Revelation 12 AND 13 you see there are two 3.5 year periods equaling 7 years. Note the word "continued" in Revelation 13. That is the second 3.5 years.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

I have not named your denomination; in fact, I don't know. If the beliefs that Gnostics believed are being taught in someone's denomination, that is not my fault. I've seen their doctrine taught in EVERY denomination. We can be in a denomination, and still be wise enough to sift the Gnostic...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Read your Bible quote again. It does not say body of FLESH.

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Unbelieving Jews were NOT trying to infiltrate the Church. But the Gnostics were believers in Christ, but their doctrines about him were heretical, Just like denominations who believe that 1 John 1:8 are Christians. They believe in Christ, but only that He covers their sins so the Father can't...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Read the whole book. The reason for John writing 1 John in the first place is 1 John 4:1-3. Those are the Gnostics, and they say exactly what 1 John 1:6, 8 and 10 says and are not Christians. 1 John 1, 2 and 3 explains why the Gnostics are wrong. Because you like what the Gnostics are saying...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

I'm copying an earlier post of mine that you missed. I just got up and need COFFEEEEEE! The Young's Literal Translation of 1 John 3:9 is "every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because his seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

LOL, I put the yet in there because of all the people that believe because the body still needs to die, then we still have sin as a born again believer (like #396). NO! The nature is separate from the body. Romans 8:9-10

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

Yes, in Matthew 26:41 even the disciples were still tempted by their flesh because Jesus had not yet died, in order for them to become Spirit filled and their flesh was dead to sin. As you see in Romans 7:25 about the law, the mind is comparable to their spirit, as compared to Galatians 5:17. I...

Saved by Faith vs Repentance and Obeying the Commandments

Yes, farouk, we cannot save ourselves like the Old Testament saints did through loving God and obedience to Him as Noah did, and then after the Ten Commandments were given. That was all they had, and their obedience was imputed to them as righteousness until Jesus came and cleansed all those...

Saved by Faith vs Repentance and Obeying the Commandments

It is not repentance for one sin, but repentance for our recognition that we are slaves to sin and can never be like Christ on our own. We MUST be born again of the Holy Spirit. That true desire to become like Christ, and not merely using Christ as a ticket to heaven, is true repentance. The...

Saved by Faith vs Repentance and Obeying the Commandments

God wants us to be perfect as Jesus commanded us to be, but it takes many steps and levels of obedience. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the spoken word to you by God. Hearing is merely the first step towards faith. Hearing about Jesus is what brings us to repentance, and repentance allows...

1 John 3:9 - Is it cannot "practice" sin, or cannot "commit" sin?

The Young's Literal Translation of 1 John 3:9 is "every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because his seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been begotten." That is once, not merely "practice." So "commit" is more accurate to represent once...

    Oh Boy! Seeing So Much!

Pearl, God sees all, so if in God's eyes you are without blemish it is because Jesus accomplished in you what He came to do. It is real righteousness. Don't believe the lies of the devil of "imputed" righteousness. That was in 4 and 5 of the 8 chapter teaching on the difference between the Old...

    Oh Boy! Seeing So Much!

Exactly, looks like you are recognizing the doctrines of demons and are no longer going to be tricked by those defeatists. Another one is we will always sin while in this body. The real us that is born again is on the inside of this body and it is called our nature. When Adam was first created...

    Your favorite Psalm?

These are three Rhemas God gave me for specific times in my life and they turned out to be prophecies. Psalms 37 He used 4 times during a 30 year period, always bringing it to my mind the day of or one day before the miracle happened. Psalms 51 I had memorized and I quoted it as my prayer for...

    Does God have favorite children?

I was filled with the Spirit 30 years after first going to church. That was 45 years ago that I've been walking with the Spirit. 22 years ago in 2000 while driving in the desert of Arizona on my way to a church conference God spoke to me and said "I am giving you the office of Teacher." That...
