How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I have said that the foundation is Christ. But you are stubbornly maintaining that the foundation is Christ IN YOU. To build ON Christ you need to go to where He is...in Zion....being seated with Him in heavenly places. For real...through being translated into the kingdom of God's dear Son. You...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Imagine that all believers voluntarily gave up all their highfalutin claims to be more than than they are, to adopt the idea that something greater is available and even desirable. What would that do? Horror of horrors...would that not produce?... 1. Humility 2. Fear of the Lord 3...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

You remember how God's covenant with Abraham entailed a cutting in two (dividing them in the midst v-10) to allow God to walk between the pieces of Abraham's sacrifice? (Gen. 15:7-21) Also recall that the word of God cuts between the soul and spirit..and the joint and marrow? (Heb. 4:12) The...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

If one understands that whether if one is on the ground floor or upstairs on the second floor. ...we are all in the same house....the house of God. The doctrine of Christ...that I teach ...takes both levels into account. Whether we are present or absent from the Lord (on the second level) we are...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

God has worked it out so that humility is the key...He has concluded ALL under sin...to draw us into a deeper walk with Him. In the end it's about the fellowship. The sin happens when we are out of fellowship with Him. At that level...whatever is not of faith is sin. Can we resist temptation...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

And that in itself is commendable. But is it at the level of what Paul is saying...what he is describing? We can't let what is good get in the way of the perfect. If you knew there was a whole other level...the level of the saint...to walk in..wouldn't you want to at least look into it? I mean...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Look at how it is expressed in Psalms...an amazing prophetic statement that we need to understand in these perilous times. Ps. 84:7 "They go from strength to strength, Every one of them in Zion appears before God." Actually the Hebrew says more like... 'Who look to God in Zion". In the LXX it...

Thank you. Your presence is as a breath of fresh air... :)

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

OK. Now we are getting somewhere. You say you are crucified. How do you know you are crucified? Because you read it in the bible and think you need to say it and that makes it real? OR...you are dead to sin and walk like a shell of a man in utter weakness so that people think you might be sick...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

OK You are able to post a cogent argument after all. :) I agree. I posted a letter from Luther earlier that shows that he in no way thought that sin could be conquered while in the mortal body. That's not giving Gd much credit for what His grace can do. Grace is the power that overcomes sin...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I feel the thread has taken too many twists and turns, so I'm reposting a part of the OP for discussion as follows... So we, in our estimation, need to see our default setting as considering sin, and the lifestyle associated with it, as being dead to us. Does that mean we can claim to be...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Back for a religious ego boost I see. Can you stop the pontificating long enough to address the subject of this thread? What does reckoning oneself to be dead to sin entail? Is that the final step in Christian growth....reckoning? Or is there more to it as Paul continues into Romans 7 and 8...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

everybody says that as they split into thousands of factions. The issue is to lay out one's interpretation and WHY that is so. That's using common sense...or "plain" sense. Everything else is vain religion. Which spirit? Certainly not the Holy Spirit. Then you are deluded, my friend...and...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

You are taking things too literally. The bible is not in the eternal realm. But the spiritual war is. You will need a means to take what the bible is saying...and with faith and God's grace...move INTO that realm to do battle there with His word... a living word. Not just words on a page...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

But backwards. Are you joining the backward interpretation club? I'm exposing the flesh...not defending it. Remember, if you don't see how your outer man is trying to stifle the life in the inner man...then iniquity is at the door...trying to get in.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amazing how you always speak about what you are doing. I opened this thread to discuss a bible verse...and accompanying bible reference..and what you have served up is a personal attack and slander for me not believing everything you say about yourself. You are not allowing others the freedom to...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Is God only found by opening a bible? Does walking in the Spirit necessitate having your nose in an open bible so as not to notice the traffic you are walking in? The bible points to God and is good for instruction in righteousness. But the connection is to be taken directly into His...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

The question is what is it saying to you. How are you interpreting the passage. What is the process in thinking that what you think is actually true...for you. I have said many times that being crucified and raised again to resurrection life is by a WHOLE measure of grace that very few will...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

All I see is people trying to hide behind bible words...a smokescreen, as you say (again the backwards reasoning). Anybody can read a verse and then say...I stand on that. THAT verse is FOR ME. But you can never ask them what THEY mean by that. No, they believe they are as pure as the word of...

How so? Please explain. I can't find the rest of your post.
