"Salvation" is the gift of Eternal Life - it's FOREVER.

Matthew 19:11 KJV: But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. It is revealed here: Luke 15:31 KJV: And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It's subtle but it's there. :)

Something about the word "supposed" bothers me. I'm just thinking out loud here. I like the word "foreordained" better. :):):):D:D:D;););):cool::cool:

I did, and I was referring to Eternal Security. :) Really? Luke 15:17 KJV: And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! Luke 15:18 KJV: I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I...

And if you want to erect straw men, that is your business. :)

All three--it is a paradox. :) Eternal life is only revocable by ourselves. But it doesn't happen overnight, normally.

Then we would be in agreement. :) No offense intended but the Interweb is full of dictionaries. :)

Nice use of misquoting you have there. The question contains a false statement, so it's practically impossible to answer. The Bible is full of direct teaching and illustrations that a believer can fall away. No amount of forceful expression can change that. Sorry. :)

"Salvation" is the gift of Eternal Life - it's FOREVER.

There are many factors that result in the anxiety that fuels the tendency of many to resort to belief in Eternal Security. One is actually perpetuated by those on the other side of the argument. And that is that if Eternal Security is not, in fact, the way of God's managing the relationships...

"Salvation" is the gift of Eternal Life - it's FOREVER.

I meant that it would have been impossible for Peter to have walked with Jesus (in the manner in which he did) for 3 years without having a conversion experience during that 3 year period, and not after Christ's ascension. Absolutely agree! (except for the part in parentheses and the OSAS bit)...

Wouldn't that depend on how mistaken they were in their theology? Theology (the knowledge of God), in its most basic form is, after all, exactly what is required for a person to have eternal life, according to John 17:3. :)

So what part of the portrayal is fair game in interpreting the teaching of the parable? Only the part that concurs with a man-made doctrine?

It's your game: Do you really think I've never thought this through? I just upped the ante in your game. And now you seem to be bluffing which means you either have nothing or you don't want anyone to see your game play out. Stringing Bible texts together completely out of their context isn't...

:) 20. Sometime. Or, “formerly.” Disobedient. Gr. apeitheō, “to disbelieve,” “to disobey,” implying deliberate disbelief and intentional disobedience. The sinners of Noah’s day had enough light to make an intelligent decision and warranted no second chance. In fact, they were so utterly...

:) 19. By which. Or, “with respect to which,” “by virtue of which.” Opinion differs as to whether “by which” refers to “the Spirit” (v. 18) or to the thought of v. 18 as a whole. Some of those who accept the reading “in spirit in v. 18 (see comment there) hold that the words “by which” refer...

Praying for you, my Friend. Watermelon or watermelon juice will literally keep you up and alert at night without any nervousness. Not sure whether it will relieve caffeine withdrawal. I understand caffeine withdrawal symptoms rarely last longer than 10 days after caffeine has been laid aside...

Psalm 22:3 KJV: But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Can you believe God inhabits our praises? You can't make this stuff up! :)
