"Salvation" is the gift of Eternal Life - it's FOREVER.

This is simply taking two unrelated passages and presupposing that they are directly related. It's like pairing together "Judas went out and hung himself" and "Go and do thou likewise." It is a basically flawed hermeneutic.

It's much simpler for me. God is love. Eternal torment is cruel tyranny--not love. :)

I'm afraid I'm just not up to all of the wordsmithing. And the rapid fire is, frankly, not my thing, either. If I was wrong to suggest that literal and figuritave shouldn't be employed within a single phrase: So sue me. lol :p

But it does seem like something that even a converted person could be hopeful and grateful for, doesn't it? :)

And, by the way, why wouldn't I agree? Did I say anything that would indicate the contrary? :)

Parables can often be very unclear, usually directly proportionate to our level of consecration. Scriptural (or divine) ones are absolutely designed that way. I haven't been following this discussion closely, so perhaps you'll pardon me if I mention something redundant. But it seems to me that...

Of course, I accept your apology, although none is needed. You have not offended me in any way. I must say, however, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to understand how to respond to your posts in a way that meets your approval. I had no idea it was necessary to analyze and seek to discern...

I thought we were having a friendly discussion. Your varying tones often puzzle me. I'm finding it difficult to communicate with you on a meaningful level. Writing you off? Being dismissive toward you? How do you get that from my questioning the application of a Bible Study method? Is being...

So you feel comfortable concluding that in the term "Mark of the Beast," the mark is literal but the beast is figurative. Seems like a questionable approach to hermeneutics. :):)

I wonder if John the Baptist was just trying to make himself feel better. Just a thought. :)

So do you think the beast is really a beast as it is described? :)

You make a compelling case but I must confess that I feel much safer subscribing to The Holy Scriptures than to Psychology Today. :)

“… the earth abideth for ever.” — Ecclesiastes 1:4 “… the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” — 2Peter 3:10 “… I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” — Genesis 32:30 “No man hath seen God at any time…”–...

Well, actually, it was Babylonian wine and I don't see how admitting to doing it myself projects it onto others. I didn't refer to anyone but myself. If I say that I used to steal but I don't do that anymore, is that projection and "ad homimen?" :p
