What if someone believes in Jesus, and His mission, But not all the bible?

Trust is the cornerstone for any relationship, including our relationship with God. The christian must believe the message of the bible at a bare minimum, and trust that it is true. Then the person may mature in their faith to actually believe the stories of the bible that the world rejects...

how to think like a confessional lutheran pastor

I think horsecamp has the right idea up to this point. The 100 percent correct doctrine is an un-achievable goal to strive towards, Perfect understanding is a goal you will never reach. It is arrogance to believe your correct and all other Christians are wrong. Our opinions shape our bias...

Quantrill, I must disagree on a point. While the real children of God are known by God even before they are born through his omniscience, that is not what makes them the Children of God. It is through faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to the Spirit of God that makes one a Child of God...

I was worried I would hit a deer for some reason before heading home today, and prayed. Then I missed a deer by the skin of its tail down the road road a few miles. Something else to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

    Should Christians Be Cremated?

Do you think the cremated will not rise? I wouldn't cremate any of my family, but only because it is more respectful to their bodies and keeps with tradition. Baring in mind that tradition was rooted in the very concern you have mentioned. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

    Have you fasted before?

The reasons for the prophets fasting is a bit ambiguous to me also. When a fast was declared in Nineveh it was done in desperation to draw nearer to God. I see no value to fasting except if you want to draw nearer to God. Then while your near to God you can make your prayer requests most...

A fast strengthens your spirit. You might be surprised by your resolve while fasting.

Strange fire conference: For God's glory or control

Not at all, if the meaning of scripture is plain and incontrovertible we should question the experience. experience is prone to subjective interpretation, but we shouldn't deny our senses when the evidence is mounting. If your goal is to agree with others who believe the same doctrine sola...

Strange fire conference: For God's glory or control

Yes, I disagree Doctrine is based on the interpretation of scripture, not the scriptures themselves. The interpretation must be open to scrutiny. If this scrutiny occurs because of an experience so be it. Always be willing to accept that your interpretation may be incorrect, but hold to it...

KO vs the second amendment - a deadly game

I've never heard of this. Your right that it is very dumb, lets hope everyone agrees and learns a lesson from their deaths. My mercy towards sons of Belial is somewhat lacking.

    The Passing of BiggAndyy

His words were few and I often disagreed with him. But upon reflection they had the most profound affect on me; more than anyone else on the two Christian forums I've frequented.

    The Passing of BiggAndyy

It grieves me to report the passing of Bigg Andyy, whom has gone home to be with the Lord. I'll miss him and his uncompromising, truthful posts. Please pray for his surviving family.

Jesus: Is it Just Me, or Does He Scare Anybody Else?

Doubt is the temptation, and unbelief the associated sin. Therefore Hebrews 4:15 is sufficient to show me Jesus doubted.

Lately I've been having the following problems:

FYI the moderators have little technical understanding of the forum, with perhaps BiggAndy as the exception. We merely have a few extra features for editing, moving, deleting. All I can tell you is It works on my end using google chrome.

    Obamacare

I've heard it promoted over christian radio. Occasionally someone will call in and and talk about how they started a chain of people paying for each-other.

    Obamacare

I'm merely pointing out the greatest evil of socialism under a topic related to a socialist program. The credo of socialism could be Love your government and forget your neighbor. Doesn't that seem a bit contrary to Jesus' command to Love God and your neighbor? How can we present ourselves as...

    Disagreement between congregation and leadership

I believe you have advised your friends and family adequately by asking them to meet with the Vicar and by pointing out their hypocrisy. Perhaps the Vicar will consider taking his leave if half the church is threatening to depart. He is the only one who would be justified in leaving.
