    What is Revival?

Just want to say, upon reflection, I think we see in scripture three distinct things - being led by the Spirit, walking in the Spirit, and also being in the Spirit (where John said he was in the spirit on the Lord's day - yet I believe he was likely walking in the spirit all or most of the time...

    What is Revival?

Amen, I agree. We are a new creation, a new inner man, created in the image of Christ. Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him

    What is Revival?

@Episkopos.....I was a single mother at the time I came to the Lord at Easter 1986 in a small Brethren church that my uncle and aunt attended. I remember hearing the name of Lonnie Frisbee somewhere back in those early days though don't remember anything specific that was said about him at all...

    What is Revival?

I agree with this. The Lord works how, when and where He pleases, in big ways and small. I believe revivals are the "times of refreshing" that is mentioned in the NT. They are not meant to grow up a flock spiritually, but are meant to encourage, re-inspire, re-energize and display the glory...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

"perfect" means spiritual, to be walking after the spirit, not the flesh, in how we live. Spiritually mature. I believe God IS working that in the believer who is following Christ, as we are His workmanship.....that simply IS where He is leading each soul to as long as we really are paying the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Two scriptures come to mind sister. Jas 1:5-6 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…. This sounds like a situation that requires God’s wisdom to be applied. He...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Speaking of balance, I consider that we need to be walking a kind of tightrope (balance) between assurances and the fear of God which spurs us on. The thing is that we need to hold onto all these things not set in cement of the carnal mind, but alive in spirit. I see the word of God as being...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

The wages of sin is death. As opposed to eternal life. How does anyone receive the spirit of adoption without Christ. Anyone without Christ is "none of His". How does anyone who is none of His escape the wages of sin, ie, death, when the only way to escape death is to receive eternal life...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

You might know it as the ecumenical movement....and secular people have what they call a "Co-Exist" movement (you might have seen their bumper stickers). It's a belief that has infiltrated many churches and hearts that says all beliefs/religions lead to God. A belief that says one doesn't need...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Paul wrote that we actually ARE in the spirit if we have the Spirit. But of course there are varying degrees and depths as we go along and as we grow & mature in the Lord (like Ezekiel in the river), and even some may be carried along by the Spirit at times for God's purposes, but not stay...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

The spiritually mature are not to consider that they have attained brother. That is very clear and very simply said in that scripture. And if anyone is truly mature (perfect) that is the mind they will have, since that is the mind that would be indicative of their maturity.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

You have a tremendous great need to defend and protect yourself, brother. That needs to go to the cross and be healed. We all have areas of our heart, or maybe it's really what is at the roots of our life, as I think of it, that needs to open up to God and experience His love and salvation...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Nay brother, I'm afraid you are wresting this to make it fit what you believe. Paul was telling those who WERE PERFECT to be of the SAME MIND as he, ie, not to consider that they had attained. Therefore he could not have been saying he hadn't attained only because he wasn't "perfect" at the...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

That is unfortunately just Epi wresting the word of God to try and make it fit his doctrine.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Not slandering anyone, Episkopos, just bringing the word of God. Which we need to bring our thoughts captive to, not going beyond what is written. I've said many times that I agree with the necessity of growing and maturing and going on to perfection, and heeding the warnings of scripture. We...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

The bible says "Friendship with the world is enmity with God." This doesn't mean to be unloving, unkind and ungenerous to people of the world (as some will accuse) - of course not, we are to love even our enemies. But it means we are to be separate from the world and not unequally yoked (at...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

In others words, this is the mind that the spiritually mature/perfect will have, @Episkopos. ie, a mind that does not consider that they have already attained.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Yes I did notice that - he said as many as be perfect, be THUS minded... to be of the same mind as Paul.....to not consider that they had already attained. That is an attitude of humility, and also that we are to continue growing and running that race for the mark of the prize of the high...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Yes, true, but keep in mind Paul also says to not think we have already attained - he himself wasn't of the mind to think that he had. We are to keep pressing on for what lies ahead until we die. In other words, keep growing and apprehending more of Christ.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Christ is in us by His Spirit. His Spirit, IS Christ, His nature. We received His spirit/Him when we believed. Otherwise we would not belong to Him, because the scripture says who has not the spirit is none of His. You need to acknowledge the "yes" part of the "yes, but not yet."
