Is it possible to lose salvation?

No slipping and sliding. All of my above statements is what the NT teaches. Here they are again, just to make sure: "...those that DO NOT obey God WILL forfeit their salvation." "...Christians that do NOT obey the Moral Law will not be seeing heaven." "Satan's greatest lie is that we could...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Well, we're not discussing Catholicism here. Some Protestants believe in water regeneration too. I like to refer to the Early Church Fathers, but, in this case, I don't find much help. Only if they agree do I seriously consider their teachings.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

    @Behold I don't know if you'd be interested, but I'll link this: https://triablogue.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-was-john-35-interpreted-prior-to.html

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Like I said,,,I agree, but am not 100% sure I'm right. Or, at least, that my view is right. I agree that if it's water baptism....and in water baptism we have LIFE .... it would be like saying we have to be born of the spirit and of the spirit. So I'm not arguing your viewpoint.... many...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Behold Some on this thread have brought up very good reasons for the WATER to mean baptism. ONE baptism is sufficient and any church that requires a second one to join THEIR church is not following biblical teaching. Personally, I tend to agree with you...although baptism also makes a lot of...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

@JohnDB is right EG. I've been saying this for a long time but I know it falls on deaf ears. You ARE reading stuff into the NT that isn't there. How do we know it isn't there? Because those that LIVED at that time and KNEW Jewish language and how it was used did NOT believe what some churches...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I'd like @Eternally Grateful to read this too, although I already know he won't agree. The phrase BORN AGAIN did not exist in the early church. A SPIRITUAL birth was recognized, but not being born again as is taught these days. I've stopped fighting this many years ago. Many incorrect...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Not going back to get the entire convo between you and the other member... However,,,why would you say that what the bible teaches comes mostly from the CC? Don't Protestants believe in doing good works? You keep saying that you do even though you debate this continuously. Let's check out a...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Sorry to advise you pandaflower.... But ALL Protestants believe Luther was correct. However, in the past couple of hundred years.... even Luther's beliefs have been challenged. Luther DID NOT believe in OSAS. A new ideology that is not biblical...not even for true Protestants.... who DO...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Big Boy 1. Christians do not believe we "die" after death. Saints (all Christians) are in heaven and alive after death. Whether or not they can hear us is a debatable issue. 2. Occult is rather strong. It means witchcraft, magical powers and the such. I don't know of any belief in...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

@pandaflower, like many other Christians, can't seem to understand the difference between the fact that works do not save anyone and after one comes to believe in God he is commanded to do good works. They like Ephesians 2:8-9 but forget to post Ephesians 2:10 Just as a reminder to them, here...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

I agree. Francis was a small tragedy...so let's see about this one. Maybe only the believers will be in the pews from now on. I know priests that have refused to go along with communion for remarrieds and blessings for SScouples. OTOH, I know a priest that believes very much in the Jesus Loves...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Yes. It gets discouraging at times. I often say that Jesus was a good communicator and said what He meant. But, somehow, He just must have messed up somehow! It's not funny actually. The young tend to look for churches that can teach them how to live as God would want in an effort to push-back...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

I feel the same. I was taught what I post by 3 different denominations. The warnings are plainly in sight in the NT. Scripture is posted and it's twisted out of shape to make it mean what it does not.... Conflicts are created when theology is not correct....

Is it possible to lose salvation?

James did not speak of anyone CLAIMING to have faith. He said that faith without works is dead. James 2:26 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead. Also, some could have NO WORKS ands still be saved after being born again. Some persons cannot do good works...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Correct. Faith, without works, is a dead faith. Seems simple enough... James 2:26 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Send some rain our way. It never rains here in late June, July and August. By Sept the trees are turning brown. Not good.
