Except when it's not.

Correct. Cults are wrong. But take care in who you are calling a cult. Jesus was a cult leader according to the religious leaders of His day. You are also correct that the punishment for rejecting God is eternal. Death, the wages of sin, is eternal if there is no resurrection subsequent to that...

So. Eternal life is not a gift as the scriptures inform us, but inherent to humanity?

The determination of Christians to cleave to eternal torment like their lives depends upon it, and their stubborn reluctance to let it go in favor of a more sane and biblical teaching, reminds me of a woman incomprehensibly refusing to leave a violent and abusive relationship.

This is a follow up in some way to the sola scriptura thread now closed. The following expresses not only my own personal testimony, but how I believe Sola scriptura ought to be exercised. To develop a healthy scepticism toward our own beliefs and values. Trust the scriptures more than any of...

Not true. He said they were unquenchable. He didn't say they wouldn't go out when the fuel is spent.

God Himself has identified His people in scripture. The church that He declares as true to Himself and to His will are described twice in the book of Revelation. KJV Revelation 12:17 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the...

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the woman entirely my friend, our own male egos and physical cravings have an overriding role I believe. But I would add something else. I think the prime factor in the whole sorry event was that neither Adam not Eve fully trusted God. Even after Eve ate of the...

I don't think that being kicked out was what he feared for her... They were told they would die.

"Please Report Heresy"

When all the saved are safely inside the walls of Jerusalem as it descends from heaven to the earth, it is surrounded by all the wicked from all ages in history, and they are led by Satan in one last ditch attempt to actually try and take over the city. Fire them descends from heaven and takes...

And your joy in glory will be full knowing, and even approving that your mother and little sister are burning without dying? PS purely hypothetical of course...

Forever. The wages of sin is death. No resurrection.

"Please Report Heresy" I am sure many may get offended by the way I approach this subject, but I make no apologies for that. It's just me being transparently honest about that particular so called Christian doctrine. I hate it.

You said, "what a precious statement" in response to another poster confirming his absolute certainty of eternal torment as being a just reward for the wicked. I happen to be quite extreme in my personal despising of that particular doctrine, because of the damage it incurs upon the character of...

There are some in this forum who I would rank as genuine Bible scholars. You, Hidden, and one or two others. But it shocks and saddens me when I see you cleave to such a disgraceful belief that so totally misrepresents the God of the Bible. "More closely" does not cut it when compared to the...

It is an abominable heresy in that it assigns to God the most despicable of characters that sinful man can devise... Never ending torture. Anyone who believes that their God would even contemplate such a thing, have not asked Him His plans, but have believed Satan's lie that sinners don't really...

You're not getting it. It's eternal punishment... Not eternal punishing.

KJV Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. KJV Psalms 145:20 20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. KJV Psalms 101:8 8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I...

What about in instances where the NT is in harmony and agrees with the old? What do you do then?
