Speaking of John Bunyan, I believe he opened the Pilgrim's Progress with this verse.... I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets. - Hosea 12:10 H1819 - damah - Strong's Hebrew Lexicon (KJV) Or... Metaphors. And...

John Bunyan was a great writer in metaphors/parables and he explains the use of them in his "The Barren Fig Tree" work (http://www.chapellib.../bun-barren.pdf): 6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found...

Pointing out the reason for this thread... Differences in Metaphors! In which you see a different interpretation than did John Bunyan.

The Europeans used to say, "In the name of God begins all mischief." If someone can develop some crazy idea and attach the words "Truth" or "God" on it they can begin something in mischief. Whenever I hear the word "Truth" as if someone sneering and "They don't have the Truth" I simply worry a...

I hate to agree with such posts but the Catholics in their time were unkind to their opponents. I am not saying the Catholics are not Christian, or that protestants in their time were not as just as bad, but there was a time they ruled with an iron hand. You would not have wanted to speak out...

The old times would sit back in the pews and weep like babies. And if they looked back to catch the amazed look in my eye they would weep, The Holy Ghost! The Holy Ghost! And point to all the souls blessed around the altar and slain in the Spirit. I can't tell you the testimonies they would give...

It is important, that if someone claims sanctification, that you have the ability to peer within the heart and find good things. My old pastor was a good example of sanctification.... 1. Very disciplined guy - Up at 6AM every morning 2. Rejoiced in what he called being a Pentecostal Holiness...

I believe the scripture compares the deceived as many and the faithful as few.... And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many... - Matthew 24:11 When once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were...

I started another thread on metaphors... The Bible is Written in Metaphors. I believe the scholars predicting a seven year tribulation were close. But, because of the nature of metaphors, maybe not necessarily totally right. Christ comes as a thief, and in the words of Isaac Newton... "And I...

I used to like to listen into the old inner-city radio as it was entertaining to find what those uneducated ministers would do with the Word of God. Most of the media I listen to is Christian radio. When I was in college I would listen in while doing my homework. Most Christian broadcast came...

The bible, especially Revelation, is written with much metaphor. I cannot believe one can study Revelation, and the bible, and see the same perspective as another fellow believer. You will agree and disagree on the interpretation of different passages. If a pastor prepares a message and does...

Rat poison.... I am a child of the protestant Christian conference 1. Lutheran - I believe the Protestant Reformation was a good thing 2. Baptist - I enjoyed quality youth conferences growing up 3. Freewill Baptist - The footwashing service, I hated the thoughts of going, but was glad I did! 4...

The message the old timers used to tell me was that we have not arrived, but have only scratched the surface pertaining to the things of God.

You cannot have two read the Bible and come out with exactly the same interpretation. Our interpretation would vary from believer to believer and the word truth can vary as well. The terms of service here declare, "You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is...

I have heard that the flesh and the devil are so akin that it is hard to discern between the two. The devil and the flesh has made problems for all denominations.
