    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

You have 3 choices: The Moral Law The Ceremonial Law The Civil Law Going to synagogue is not a civil law. I don't see it as a moral law unless someone can tell why and so far no one has. So it must be a ceremonial law....

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

It wouldn't be enough in a particular case.... Those that observe the Sabbath say that there are 10 commandments and not 9. That makes sense and it would certainly seem like those that do not are not observing one of God's 10 commandments. UNLESS God's 10 commandments are also called the...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

What do you mean by saying that if Calvin got it right he was taught by God? Let's call it God's character if nature does not suit you. Do you believe God IS love? Does He have mercy on His creation? (us) Is He a just God?

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

You should read a book by a particle physicist today. First, I'd like to say that God fashioned the universe with laws. These laws are followed by nature....this does not mean that He predestines every tree that will die. It dies because something happened to it and the result will be death...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

You're an itelligent fellow PS. You names Augustine...I'm sure you know he lived in the 5th century. He was the only theologian that believed as Calvin did (Calvin learned from him, of course). None of the early fathers believed in unconditional election and they all believed in free will. But...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

Hi LL, You're answering some questions here.... The first one was why you believe Calvin since no one in the early church believed in predestination and every theologian in the early church believed in free will. You answer is that it's 100% biblical. How could it be biblical if NO ONE after...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

What are they right about if they're wrong about God's nature??

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

A label is of little value, unless you understand what it means. Being labeled as a Calvinist is important because it defines your understanding of two important aspects of Christianity: 1. The nature of God. 2. Soteriology - or Salvation economy. What you believe about the two listed above...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

That sounds good. As I stated....we must have faith first or works are useless. After we have faith, God does expect us to obey Him... and works become a sign of our belief in Him. Works/good deeds is just anything we do...because we now do it for God. Colossians 3:17

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

Agreed. But what does BELIEVE mean? Check out the Greek....believe also means to obey. But I'm sure you agree that we should obey. It's just that sometimes persons that speak as you do give the impression that they don't think it's really necessary to obey.

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

I was agreeing with you and all was fine until you got to baloney... What is the work of God? What does 1 Cor 3:15 mean anyway? 2 am here... to be cont'd. 'night.

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

I wouldn't say one and all. Just that one. The ransom theory is interesting... I'll link a short and good article below. (from a book) It has the 7 (if I remember) most important atonement theories. The propitiation theory came about at the reformation and was not really in the early church...

    John Calvin and Calvinism.

You're joking of course. We should dump the WCF just like I'd love to dump the CCC. (I'm not Catholic but have taught from it). As to Calvin.... Why have your faith on God depend on a man born in the 1500's and with whom no one in the early church agreed? He received his bible degree from...

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

What do you think DOES have to do with salvation? Is it necessary to obey God?

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

Where did Jesus mention rewards in John 5:28?? The deeds of the Law just means that if we have NO FAITH but do works, like donating money to the poor but the donator does not believe in God, that person will not be saved. We must have faith first,,, and then we must also do good deeds/works...
  17. GodsGrace

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

What do you mean by the above? Isn't it Origen that believed in the Ransom Theory of atonement?
  18. GodsGrace

    The 10 Commandments are FOREVER

If by the Old Commandments you mean the Laws of Moses, then I agree. Not all the 613 Laws were from God...some were instituted by Moses. BUT,,,the Israelites WERE SUPPOSED to keep the Law. God made a Covenant with Moses.... To make it simple, the people were to honor and obey God,,, They would...
