There is NO proof text in scripture.

Just seeing this.. Yes, in the context of post #143, it is name calling. It (He) said that the reason for placing the Holy Spirit first over [not the written word] but over "study", is what "lazy people" do. That's what he said--and it is a false accusation. It is not lazy, but a choice--the...

    I'm a non-Christian, where can I post?

Apparently "Fair Dinkum" is a slang term in Australia meaning pretty much how you define your beliefs. The term came to mind when I read the name of your sect--kinda sounded similar, so I Googled it.

I knew I had heard it somewhere--looks like you may have some competition! fair dinkum phrase of dinkum INFORMAL•AUSTRALIAN used to emphasize or seek confirmation of the genuineness or truth of something.

    Paul's Gospel

The gospels refer to the 11 or 12 as both "apostles" as well as "disciples." Nonetheless, even after He sent out the 12, Christ gave some to be apostles, including Paul. Ephesians 4:11

    I'm a non-Christian, where can I post?

I agree. Meanwhile I also agree with those parts that are right even if other things are incorrect. The rest may take some time. But thanks for making the point. Certainly there is more.

There is NO proof text in scripture.

Just a reminder...the intent of this thread is not to make the point that the study of God's word is not good, because it is. But on the contrary, the intent is to avoid participating in the obvious problems, which are not between a person and God in his word, but between those who wield it as...

    Paul's Gospel

"For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you...

Agreed. (Regarding the words of the apostles.)

    I'm a non-Christian, where can I post?

Welcome! I don't see where you mentioned the apostle Paul's writings in your canon, which is curious, since he is the only one who outwardly/plainly said "For me to live is Christ." Philippians 1:21 ...Did I miss it? And the idea of following Jesus, but not those whom He sent out. Hmmm...

There is NO proof text in scripture.

Ooooh, sorry...would you prefer I enlarge the accusation of using the Holy Spirit instead? Proud of that one huh? ...But that is not according to the scriptures, it's backwards-- I thought you would have studied that. Anyway, one cannot "use" the Holy Spirit, that is not how it works: "But...

Why do People Pray for the Dead?

I gave you an opportunity to reveal yourself, and you did.

Why do People Pray for the Dead?

That is exactly what I did...I quoted Jesus. And even now you don't fully quote what I said, leaving out my response to the information you gave. Then you say I ignored it. It is not who I am, you do this to yourself.

Why do People Pray for the Dead?

You have not reconciled all scripture, namely that Jesus clearly said He was not a spirit. You are also wrong that I have not reconciled all the scriptures that you have provided. We have not yet had that conversation. I merely presented you with a scripture that should have shown you that...

There is NO proof text in scripture.

Indeed, the word of God does not stand at odds with the Spirit, it is the flesh that does, and men who lean that way. And, yes, there are proof texts. The problem is that proof texts have become the very chaos that those who place the scriptures over the Spirit fear.

Why do Catholics adore, worship and deify Mary so much?

Where it is true that Mary is not God, and the Catholics are not perfect...do not all good sons love their mother, even put her on a pedestal?

There is NO proof text in scripture.

Exactly, and that is why we should be happy to embrace Jesus' provision and Helper to put an end to the confusion and lead us into all truth, as promised. Now, some have said that is impossible or foolish chaos allowing all manner of wild interpretations, making matters even worse. But what...

Why do People Pray for the Dead?

I am not going to continue to debate things with you that you turn right around and contradict against the scriptures. The above comment is just an example, and it is enough. Here (above) you say "Jesus was not raised in the flesh but as a spirit. (1 Peter 3:18) He remained on earth for 40...

There is NO proof text in scripture.

Yet the words are not accurately interpreted at all by most. Which is evident and the very problem we face. And the scriptures actually do say God confused all language: "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” Genesis 11:7...
