    HERESY?

Just came upon this. I agree with you. But we have one poster here that seems to be stuck on one verse and basis much of his belief system on that one verse. I'm happy to hear you don't agree with that method of study.

    HERESY?

No. It was Catholic churches. Catholics are used to receiving communion regularly - Protestants are not so I doubt they would be in need of something like a drive-thru communion.

    Eternal Security

Well marks, It's undone in all those verses I listed and there are plenty more. You just don't care to "see" what they say.

    Eternal Security

Of course we have security In Christ. We have security IN CHRIST. When we are IN CHRIST we have security. And yes, salvation is a gift through the grace of God based on our faith. Faith saves us in the N.T. and faith saved in the O.T. And I don't translate verses....they are plain and simple...

    Eternal Security

What did Jesus do? He went to the cross for us. He did His part... We also have a part to do...this is all Jesus talked about and taught. Jesus said many times that we must believe to be saved.... John 11:25 I am the resurrection and the life; he who BELIEVES in Me shall live even if he dies...

How does one verse outdo all of the verses that state we can be saved and then leave? Should I post them again? I hate carpet bombing...but here goes: 1 Timothy 4:1 Hebrews 6:4-6 I only use this to show that one could leave the faith,,,not to show that they cannot return...We could discuss...

    Why was there a reformation?

Yes Funny Mary,,, I agree totally with your statements above. Here are a couple of my pet-peeves: OSAS comes out of the closet 1,500 after Jesus died and the Apostles began teaching. The reformed faith comes out of the closet at the same time (go figure) and the early fathers did not believe...

    HERESY?

I wish Enoch. We'd all believe the same truths. I also wish the writers had been more specific in their writings, but they were writing for an audience they knew would understand and that was 2,000 years ago in a different part of the world. So here we are...

    HERESY?

Very good points. Also, Catholics don't worship statues...at least they're not supposed to. Ditto for saints.

    Eternal Security

How is this a clear axiomatic passage when you don't understand what John is speaking of? He's not speaking about people that were never included in the redeemed. He's speaking of gnostics that were following Jesus around and decided to abandon Him. Did you know that gnosticism was a problem in...

    Eternal Security

God's grace falls on everyone. God gives to everyone enough grace for salvation. It could be called prevenient grace. Every Christian believes this Grace.

marks, I'm not exegeting 2 verses for a person (you) that does not seem to be able to get away from ONE VERSE. And that does not seem willing to understand any other verse. If you need exegeting for James 5:19-20 and 2 Peter 2:20-22, I'd say you're one of those faith only persons mixed with...

    The Trinity

bb Do you know the history of the Trinity? It was by the CC as you've stated...but the original one...the one that was still teaching what the Apostles taught. They saw Jesus come back to life... They believed He was divine. There's no getting around this. What did Jesus mean in Matthew 28:19...

    The Trinity

I agree. I'm responding to the O.P. I just don't believe our doctrine saves us... but our belief in God and our entry into the Kingdom of God here on earth by observing what Jesus taught.

    HERESY?

Take a look....but this was only last year for a while... drive through communion during covid - Google Search

    HERESY?

I think most on this thread believe that a heresy is a belief contrary to orthodoxy, or the belief accepted by the majority of Christianity as to the truth of scripture and the doctrines derived thereof. Saying that a heresy is a doctrine of demons is very strong and would allow any belief to...

    Why was there a reformation?

Yes...but some teachings developed and some were changed. Confession is a prime example. It developed over time to what we have today. Some priests I know that do not believe purgatory is found in the bible DO believe in confession of sins. I find this very interesting. Also, your verse is...

    Why was there a reformation?

LOL You funny. The CC uses 1 Corinthians 3:15 as support for purgatory. One of the reasons for the reformation, I believe, is verses like this that are clearly not meant to represent a condition after death that neither Jesus nor the Apostles spoke of. I can't think of any ECF that spoke to...

    HERESY?

Ditto here. Most Catholics don't believe it either.

What's the weather like where you are?

Hi JohnPaul, I know New Jersey well. I grew up across the river in Queens NY. I was thinking of the Garden State Parkway the other day. My husband and I and our 2 children would always drive up North in Autumn when the leaves changed. What a spectacle! No place like that here. Whatever...
