I can understand where some Christians think that God has given up on the Old Testament. Historically the Jews have done about everything they can to curse themselves....including the "let his blood be upon us and our children" thing. I grew up with Jews in Clayton and University City and they...

Of course Christ did not destroy the law or do away with it, it is still in effect for the Jews. It is an irrelevant point, because it would be near to impossible to obey what people think are the Ten Commandments much less the 613 Mosaic Laws. There are laws that command and allow things that...

Festival on the squire on Saturday. The big black guy, Thomas, is a police officer.

As I have said the basic most elementary elements of morality will be include in the more advanced understand of morality which is Christ's teachings. The other problem is the body of the Mosaic law that in spirit is severely inferior to Christian beliefs. Just a few of the examples.... Of...

@GEN2REV 1st Cor. 9:20 And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law, through not being myself under the Law, that I might win those who are under the Law; 2nd Corinthians 3:7-18 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on...

You are very wrong about that. He even made it clear he was not under the law. And teach others the same?...LOL...give me a number....how many scriptures do you want to prove you wrong? Oh, no need. I got this. Well then conversation over.

Cool....I was just watching High Plains Drifter. Well if you took it that way I will still apologize The question is in the title of the thread....So as not to confuse I will here by refer to it as the "question in the title" Personal opinion.... Oh no. I get a lot of push back on my...

Good point. and it said few....few from the perspective of Christ's time. There are some that think that only 144,000 will make it to heaven. I said it and I mean it. You are very wrong about that. He even made it clear he was not under the law. And teach others the same?...LOL...give me a...

Should I have said shy....Someone that has a Clint Eastwood avatar should stand up and be counted. I am not saying your are not being honest. Not a all. So what do think is the hardest thing to keep?

Yes, moral codes existed in the Pagan world. The basalt or diorite stele and this is not the only stele that had codes or stories. Some of the stories in the Old Testament occur outside of the Hebrew culture.

Christ's ministry occurred during the Old Covenant, so it would be correct for Him to obey them....within reason. He actually changed the Mosaic Law for the Jews in a couple ways....the life for a life and a tooth for tooth...He changed for them He changed the law on divorce for them. And a...

The label Ten Commandments were incorrectly given to ten of the 14 summery of laws. Yahweh Himself, called another set the ten commandments. And those He instructed Moses to write on the tablets. The New Testament will tell you not to murder or steal or commit adultery and what Christ taught...

Now you know that the book of Hebrews will prove this wrong...as far a Christians. And it is true Christ did not do away with the Law for Jews. They are not in the New Covenant, they are in the Old Covenant. And those laws...even though they are impossible to keep today...they still apply to...

Here ya go again...so soon you forget. See notes 1, 8, 10, and 11, It is a sad thing that we are even having this discussion....Such distain for being good and doing good and obeying Christ. If it is not anti-Christian, what would be? Can you imagine Christ and Apostles preaching this? Christ...

Be good and do good....why not? What is the alternative? You are not the only one that seems to be scared of this topic. I am not proposing perfection. We are all sinners. I am asking for an honest conversation. Give it a try.

Lets seriously get off the topic of Calvinism...that would help. We are sitting in a thread entitled "Why do you feel it is hard to be Good? So far you have given me that being good is not that advantageous. Why is it a problem being good? What taboo is hard to control? It is a good discussion.

Ya, didn't you know I am time traveler. I am planning on going back to his time and aborting him. Since they are all about sinning and getting forgiveness. Just kidding. The Calvinists I know personally are pretty moral. But I think like a lot of less the silly OSAS they believe if you are a...

Well I think I started using it first, but I could be wrong. It is kind of like HVLI...I coined on one the submarines I was on. HVLI High Velocity Lead Injection. John Calvin was a nut. And his religion is blasphemous, depicting God as a monstrous puppet master. Cool on the peace.

That is my phrase and it accurately describes this super grace stuff and OSAS. Describes it to a tee....once you put it in motion...sin all you want and rewarded with heaven. And after all that evil goes to heaven, it is not fit for God or good people. This is the Christian version of the Old...
