Scripture is not the last word.

You are contradicting yourself. But first, the "iceberg" analogy is its own iceberg. If you don't get the common understanding that there is more there than meets the eye...never mind. But it should have been clear. The point is, what is seen of God's word in the scriptures is the smaller part...

Scripture is not the last word.

Indeed, this is true. The problem is that many take that to mean the written world only...and as history has proven, every time the Spirit expounds upon the iceberg of what is written, God's people turn on each other and they kill the messenger.

Scripture is not the last word.

Should be the unofficial mantra of God's would-be followers. :(

Scripture is not the last word.

Unfortunately, this is the track record of God's people, who continually reject the next thing in God's plan. It is in fact so predictable that Jesus sighted the killing of the prophets...and then He Himself was also killed for the same misguided belief, which indeed, is not belief at all, but...

Scripture is not the last word.

Yes, indeed...fear is of the unknown.

Are You Saved Because You Believe OR Do You Believe Because You Are Saved?

I am convinced that it is His being faithful that was and is fully adequate, for which I am grateful, claiming nothing.

How were the O T saints saved?

Oh this is a deep one! H.R., You tell it just fine...but that is only true according to the times of the scriptures you quoted. But we press on unto all truth. Although some will not want to hear it, and swear it is not even biblical, these are the times of which it is written: "knowledge shall...

Scripture is not the last word.

I said "diversity" is used by God, which is true-- but the better example, is "weakness." His strength is made perfect in weakness...against men's logic. My explanation to you was me speaking plainly about the very complex nature of God, which, yes, goes against men's worldly logic. But because...

Scripture is not the last word.

Well...sorry...but even though I did not say you were wrong in my above post that you were replying to -- now I have to tell you, you were wrong! I never said you were wrong in that post...which means being wrong...well, it's all on you. See how you are.

Scripture is not the last word.

That is not what I was saying. But, yes, the use of past tense language, does indicate the "correct timing" of events. Just as we "were" crucified and raised up with Christ, and Him slain before the foundation of the world...the moment we cross from the timing and the history of the world, to...

Scripture is not the last word.

We do not decide, God does. Do the scriptures say to follow men, or to follow Jesus. Follow Jesus. He will guide your steps. That is our walk...not one of having it all figured out, but of trusting in Him who's peace in such matters "surpasses all understanding", compared to that of men.
  12. ScottA

Scripture is not the last word.

I am not calling all men of different bents on the truth correct. As for this point of yours and the differences coming out of the various men and churches...again, this is just your own logic at work. If God uses diversity to bring His body into perfection, does that make Him wrong and you...

Scripture is not the last word.

I gave you the scriptures that say that "all" are One is this matter. If you do not believe me or the scriptures coming from the apostle John...then our discussion is over. Moreover, "logic" in this matter, is just your own logic...or perhaps that of the world. But since your logic goes against...

Are You Saved Because You Believe OR Do You Believe Because You Are Saved?

I am afraid, all I can offer is a curve ball...well, that is, in addition to a confirmation that one perhaps does not get from believing: I was saved before ever believing, so I do not "believe", but rather "know" for certain. ;)

    Gods Standard is...

Great topic! To our non-Christian onlookers, this kind of thing must certainly be like shop-talk LOL. Many don't have a clear grasp of what the world is, that it is God's creation, His masterpiece, and that His intended perfection includes the nuance of contrasting the good with the...

Scripture is not the last word.

There is a time for milk, and there is a time for meat. There is a time for the flesh, and there is a time for the spirit. To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven. That was the purpose that prompted this thread. It is also why there was a time for Jesus to...

Scripture is not the last word.

"Every person"...hahaha, no, just you four horsemen.
  18. ScottA

Scripture is not the last word.

You are contradicting yourself. First you are critical of me for "cobbling together verses" doing exactly what Jesus and the apostles did in quoting bits and pieces from prophecies that were not always on topic (which, according to prophecy, is exactly how it is to be, meaning: in parables...

Scripture is not the last word.

You are still not reconciling all, not Jesus promising to say more, the scope of which includes the entire work of the Holy Spirit and even the times of the gentiles. There is no contradiction between this and Jude... "the faith being delivered to all the saints" is not a cutoff, it is a...

Scripture is not the last word.

You are leaving too much out: "My words are spirit", "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now"...after which He promised to send the Holy Spirit, whom did not only fall on the 12, but on many at the day of Pentecost, as it was foretold and confirmed to be on "all."...
