    Keith Green anyone??

Good to hear! I remember a few years ago when you, seeing me on another forum, invited me back here. I was nominally still a member but hadn't been active for a long while. Now sometimes I would have to say I am a regular here. I rarely visit that other forum where you encountered me to extend...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I remember when the nuns [Franciscans they were, 4 in all] who used to manage the altar boys offered a voluntary evening class once a week to teach us the meaning of the Latin words we and the priest were speaking during the mass. I was enthusiastic and attended and learned although most of it...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

When a person has become aware that the Bible exists and does really contain messages from God it certainly essential, isn't it? What is essential to a person does depend on where he is in his walk. Babies must learn to read with understanding. There are some very old babies because for what...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

He would have to be to put up with what He has with men since there have been men. With Noah it would have been so easy it seems for Him to simply to let the flood take it all. But... that's looking at my own limited perspective with sometimes very limited patience with the ways of men which I...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

Yes, indeed! It brings us back to hearing His voice and paying attention to what we hear. I believe that when you believed like that sincerely if something had caused your physical life to end... it would have been enough. You were very young and had comparatively little 'clutter' in your...

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

In those days I was a very sincere altar boy and would never miss mass without a very good reason. As the only one in the family who attended other than special holidays like Christmas, no one was pushing me to go... unless it was God.

The Percentage of Catholics, Calvinism, Arminianism, or Other, On The Christianity Boards?

Give God the glory! My wife and always taught our two children the importance of being on time... but they've both been gone from our home for many years now and taken up in its place and refined the art of tardiness. Hopefully they don't do that regularly on their secular jobs....

The Percentage of Catholics, Calvinism, Arminianism, or Other, On The Christianity Boards?

You put me back with that one. Maybe I should hold back from the regular promptness and learn to be tardy. As to the Catholics, some of them as with some in many other many denominational [or non-d.] groups also made the more important cut, but so many choose the wide gate leading to destruction.

Is there salvation outside the Catholic Church?

This was so when I was an active Catholic, but it was discouraged in the parish where I attended.[ Remember that I am an old man who attended all masses in Latin before the Bible was being read through every three years or so.] Our little town was more than 2/3 Catholic but I never knew of any...

The Percentage of Catholics, Calvinism, Arminianism, or Other, On The Christianity Boards?

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I do hope that means I ate it with proper faith.

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

On another thread today, I saw where someone posed that question. I would like to know myself what people do with this question. Are some things essential to everyone in order to please God or to make it the end our course with Him? Then again, just exactly do we mean when we use that word...

It does say something about being late on the scene, although personally I have always hated to be late to anything and rarely have been. Is that a good thing?

1 Jn 3:8: "I am a sinner saved by grace"

What I see in us are the twins [Jacob and Esau] in Sarah's womb contending with each other even before birth. This is the old man of us versus the new man of us. The old man has no chance of winning...unless we quench the Spirit of God that wants to work in us. If we don't with Him on the right...

    “No place found”

People walking and thinking only in their own minds of carnal flesh doubt that this book or that book of the Bible is inspired because they simply do not know God themselves or they don't know Him as well as they should. The human brain is a wonderful and to please God with our stewardship over...

The Scope (or extent) of the Atonement

And God also called His Son out of Egypt, meaning the natural children of Israel, but many, or should I say most, of them remained the children of Jacob and never received the Promise. All of the children who came out were 'saved' from the Egyptian bondage and this is certainly, as I see it, an...

The Percentage of Catholics, Calvinism, Arminianism, or Other, On The Christianity Boards?

Sorry if I misunderstood. I presumed you meant you were adding the Pentecostals to the category of cult. Just to be clear I avoid ever using the word, "cult" as is commonly done by many believers to designate any group that confesses and professes to follow Jesus. Some people call the Catholic...
