Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

And if we do say, yes, then would that mean we are NOT born of God as per I John 3:9?

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

Yes, when a person does baptize a person in the water, what he says and does, and what the one being baptized says and does, is not so important as what is happening in their hearts. Isn't it always so with the things of God?

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

Just so! What you say expresses why real discussion on some of these issues is not possible. There are essentials involved, but if we name them, will yours agree with mine, and mine with his, and etc. Hopefully some people will gain something beneficial from the details given, or Not, given on...

    Urgent warning about Donald Trump

But our government is already involved and has been for many years. When I worked for Social Security which began well before same sex marriages were legal anywhere in the USA, I had to make marriage decisions frequently. Lots of people will do things honestly but lots of people is not...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

God only lives in that part of us which has already been cleaned. Until it is all cleaned we remain double minded as James explained it. Staying double minded instead of moving ever more closely to God allowing Him to clean out more of our filth and replace it with His goodness is what must...

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

"I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily." I Cor 15:31 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." Rom 1:17

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Why were Adam and Eve left to their own choice in Eden, to eat or not to eat the forbidden fruit. When they did they died as God had warned them from the beginning. Are we better than Adam and Eve? Is God a respecter of persons?

Why do so many oppose imputed righteousness?

Aye, what we have been given is the very power of God. When it takes longer than just a moment of repentance, it is because we continue in some measure for some reason to resist the leading the of Holy Spirit in us. People resist many times, if not always, because they have something in the...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

I had a little trouble at first understanding your very Catholic language. You should do something about that when speaking to someone who is not with your church. Just a suggestion. I believe however that I got the sense of your thought to be that there are different levels and/or parts within...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

Do you really suppose that for most people it would really make a difference? One more point of argument for some to argue perhaps... but to please God? What do we suppose the priests under the law gave to Moses said with their mouths when they washed their physical bodies with water before...

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

I also believe that that verse is a genuine part of the Gospel of Matthew, but that still won't put me in the Trinitarian camp. To you and undoubtedly to others the Trinity may be essential but I have not seen the 'why' of it. I go back to Matt 6:33. Without getting into the details of water...

Question for Catholics or those who have left the Catholic church

See the first page of scripture in my Luther Bible. The tiny little notes at the beginning of a verse are sometimes impossible. When I forget one I may dig out my magnifying glass to check decipher each letter in a word.

Question for Catholics or those who have left the Catholic church

My Luther version German Bible was printed in 1922 and is, of course, NOT in cursive, but even its print can be hard to decipher. The lengthy documents in the old German cursive were the one I almost always bypassed leaving them for another translator. Even your neatly aligned and printed...

    Born Again

Or if they have been born again/born from above, they remain immature babies. A new convert is one thing and an old 'saint' too lazy or careless or complacent in their assurance to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus is quite another.

What does anyone consider truths essential for followers of Jesus?

Are then saying that a belief in a Trinity is essential? I know people find what they consider evidence of a Trinity in the scripture, but is it essential? To what? If it were essential why would any sincere believer doubt it? I say this because I do not embrace the Trinity and I believe...
