Suicide: A guaranteed direct ticket to hell?

You see Stranger, I was right the first time. You're saying right up above that there are TWO gospels, one that Jesus preached and one that Paul preached. You're separating what Jesus said and what Paul said. Paul was referring to the salvation of souls through Jesus NOT A GOSPEL OF GRACE...

Suicide: A guaranteed direct ticket to hell?

This is very true Armadillo. We could also say that we live our life through Him. But if I asked you to look for some verses stating the above, you wouldn't find any. Want to give it a try? Also, you won't find more than 4 or 5 times Jesus even mentions the word "salvation". You could check...

    Why water into wine?

MJ You're Always teling me to look up stuff. How do you know I already haven't? The first Christians were Jewish converts. They were called Jewish converts. Paul was on his way to Damascus to round up both men and women who belonged to THE WAY, which was how Jewish converts were called by...

Suicide: A guaranteed direct ticket to hell?

Good post. All very beautiful. What do you think Jesus' purpose was? Did He have an intention other than the atonement?

Suicide: A guaranteed direct ticket to hell?

You said that Jesus came to the Jews. And Paul came after to explain Jesus' mission and to take the gospel to the gentiles. You could have corrected me if I misunderstood you instead telling me the rest of the words are mine. What I wrote is what I understood you to say. IF this is what you...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Oz, I also would like to understand @pia's explanation that Jesus was the Son of Man first, and THEN became the Son of God. I hope she explains. I've never heard this before...

    Why water into wine?

I had asked you to please explain the above to me and you never did. I looked it up myself and I can only assume (something I don't like to do but you left me no choice) that you're saying that the Catholic Church makes statues of idols and prays to them. Didn't Moses make a representation of a...

    Why water into wine?

Hi Perrero, I'm not speaking to paying to saints. The C C believes in the communion of saints. It's a beautiful thought. It just means that all believers are one happy, big family. Of course the problem I have with this is that God is omnipresent and I don't understand how saints (all dead...

    Why water into wine?

How could it not be from God if it's the first Church ever?? I say MEN messed it up, just like we seem to be able to mess everything up. Or should I say through the influence of the evil one. By "men" I mean "man". Sorry 'bout that.

    Why water into wine?

I found it! The reason I couldn't find it is because it's invisibe !! Go figure. Totally by mistake I was scrolling and saw the "hand" and realized there had to be something there and then realized it was the upward pointing Arrow I've been looking for. Thanks! This is really helpful to...

What's a Library? And what would be the problem if I WAS a Catholic? Would you stop loving me?

    Why water into wine?

Agreed. Most parishioners have never read the bible (although that's changing) let alone the CCC which is where all the beliefs are. The first hundred or so paragraphs should be read by EVERYONE. CS Lewis explains Christianity really well in Mere Christianity, but the CCC does a good job of it...

    Why water into wine?

I'm not sure you're speaking to me... But I just want to say that if you found unity, I'm truly happy for you. I'm having difficulty finding it anywhere these days. I trust in Jesus and am hanging on tight. That's the best we could do.

    Why water into wine?

You know BoL, when you read the CCC Baptism sounds very beautiful but it also sounds like it would require an adult to understand what's going on. I do know why Catholics baptise babies. To remove original sin. God cannot stand to be in the presence of sin, and what if the baby should die and...

Suicide: A guaranteed direct ticket to hell?

Why explain something to someone who seems to already know something??? You know what they say about "assume". Anyway, BELIEVE happens to be a very important word for me, as you will find out. So, I'm actually the opposite of what you thought I was. Peace.

    Why water into wine?

He probably didn't join the Catholic Church because he was tired of the splintering we Protestants love so much and the arguing we love to do. The Eastern Orthodox Church is MORE orgranized than the C C. There is MORE discipline, and this is probably what he wanted after leaving such a broken up...

When someone cannot reply with facts, they resort to saying silly things.

    Why water into wine?

Hi BoL I'd like to add this: In Italian the title of Pope is : Pontefice Ponte means bridge. We could say that the Pope is the bridge between the people and God, thus his title of Vicar of Jesus, or representative of Jesus. I think Pontefice is a very beautiful title for him.

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Hi Pia, Just got here. You're saying something I've never heard before. Jesus became a "son of man", as in the O.T. Okay. Then you said that AFTER this He became the Son of God. How did Jesus become the Son of God AFTER becoming the Son of Man? Is this something we could replicate and maybe...
