How can there be life after death?

Yes. Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. That’s heresy. Jesus was never a human person in the theology affirmed by the majority of Christians (i.e. trinitarianism). If you had made your comment in the Middle Ages you would have been tortured and, if you refused to recant, burned at the...

How can there be life after death?

Book recommendation. This is one of my favorite books and, without a doubt, my favorite book (outside of the Bible) on the issue.

How can there be life after death?

What you said is the wrong way, the wrong sense, the improper perspective, to read Paul - IF you are someone who believes you are (or have) an immortal soul. The dead person isn’t resurrected; the dead person is still alive and, therefore, must immediately go somewhere -> to heaven / to Jesus...

How can there be life after death?

What you said is the right way, the right sense, the proper perspective, to read Paul. To the dead person who is resurrected, it will seem instantaneous - like a blink of an eye - when in fact it may have been thousands of years that have passed.

How can there be life after death?

Then yes. Paul’s perspective is that humans are mortal and God is immortal. Jesus wasn’t instantly resurrected. He was dead and in the grave / tomb for three days and three nights. Did God ever say that he wanted to die? God is immortal. Immortals, by definition, don’t die. Mortals, by...

How can there be life after death?

Prefer to what? They believe it is the truth. Paul himself is a resurrection man. Resurrection necessitates waiting. Humans don’t exist without bodies. Thanks. Do you think he ever was a human person? God cannot die.

How can there be life after death?

@Riven do you think Jesus is a human person? When Jesus died, was he dead?

How can there be life after death?

I mean paganism. Their idea of being dead is that they are still alive; only the shell / husk (the body) is dead. They are reading Paul and leaving out resurrection. That’s right.

How can there be life after death?

You are a soul. A mortal soul. Immortality is a gift. The influence of Greek philosophy. The dead who belong to Jesus will wait until he returns. The dead who don’t belong to Jesus will wait an additional 1,000 years. The dead are unaware of the passage of time.

How can there be life after death?

The dead are no longer alive. It is called the sleep of the dead. We wait to be resurrected to life.
