Jules, you dont just have a problem with your boyfriend following the pastor and church, you seem to have a problem with him obeying and following God so closely. No, I have a problem with people judging me when they don't even know me.

sounds a little legalistic to me!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that. There are surely more important issues - but the pastor was very forceful over this one.

Things must always be done from the heart - not under coercion or manipulation, or peer pressure. There's no future in that.

It's maybe not as big a deal as I made of it. But David is really letting go of his wild and rebellious past - in so many ways.

Yes. there are so many different opinions on this, though. David has become like a different person since he has been so heavily involved there. It's sort of "right wing". But I shouldn't say too much because it's my church too.

Well, he likes the haircut very much - and says it will always be very short now.It was after a long biblically-based discussion with the pastor. That was what made up his mind.Not sure he had to have it cut so short as that!

I am simply not as immersed in its teachings or authority as he is.He wants to obey in everything. Work, career, hobbies. And accountability is very important.

Well, my boyfriend has made some really big changes in his life recently, on the say so of his pastor. It is all getting a bit much!

I sometimes get concerned over how influential the church is over its members. My boyfriend is with one such powerful church. Although it's nominally my church too, I wonder about the extent of the hold it can have over people.David is very immersed in his church's teachings for over a year...
