Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

You're right, everyone one of us must choose what scriptural truth the Bible is teaching. It seems you and I differ in what the scriptures are teaching us regarding the word Soul and whether Jesus was mortal or immortal, when he came to earth as a human being. I believe that human beings are...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

I understand you believe Jesus to be God. I don't. I believe that the only begotten Son of God is the Word, not that God is the Word. Yes it was the Word that became flesh but that means I believe it was the only begotten Son of God who became flesh, because I believe the Word is the only...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

Nowhere in the scriptures does it say it was the Christ in the lord Jesus body that left him. The only begotten Son of God was and is the Christ. As I said nowhere in scripture does it say the Christ was in Jesus body. Also the scriptures don't say the only begotten Son of God becomes the only...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

That he did not possess immortality before his resurrection by God is seen from the inspired apostle’s words at Roman 6:9 when it says, "Christ, now that he has been raised up from the dead, dies no more; death is master over him no more," and Revelation 1:17, 18 confirms this when it says...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

I'm not saying it was based on the flesh. I'm saying that I have found no scriptures that apply immortality to the only begotten Son of God before his death. I haven't found anywhere in scripture where Immortality is applied to Jesus until after his death and resurrection, not before that.

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

As I have said I have found nowhere in Scripture that immortality is applied to Jesus before his death. Also from my research of the word immortality, my understanding is that it means, deathlessness, and refers to the quality of life that is enjoyed, its endlessness and indestructibility. So I...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

You have the right to believe what you want, but I haven't found anywhere in scripture that immortality is applied to Jesus until after he was resurrected from the dead. So I haven't found anywhere before Jesus death that immortality was applied to him.

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

The only begotten Son of God was originally in heaven with God until God sent his only begotten Son to mankind. So I disagree that there was something inside Jesus body that was eternal. Reasoning like that means you're saying the only begotten Son of God was immortal, eternal. But if that were...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

Then you and I are in agreement that before Jesus sacrificed his human life his human body for mankind he was mortal. If Jesus had been immortal before he sacrificed himself it would have been impossible for him to be put to death. So yes the only begotten Son of God didn't have immortality...

Was Jesus 'mortal' or 'immortal' ?

The Greek word immortality is athanasia and is formed by the negative prefix a followed by a form of the word for “death” (thanatos). Thus, the basic meaning is “deathlessness,” and refers to the quality of life that is enjoyed, its endlessness and indestructibility. (1 Corinthians 15:53,54; 1...

What happens to your soul when you die?

I mean I'm not going to contradict what's written down in my English version of the scriptures. It says at Genesis 2:7, "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." This scripture is very clear that God...

What happens to your soul when you die?

I don't care how many times you ask, I'm not going to contradict what my Bible says at Genesis 2:7.

What happens to your soul when you die?

Genesis 2:7 is a scripture that teaches us how God formed the first human being into existence. In my own words this scripture is teaching me that God took dust from the ground and formed the flesh and blood human body from that dust. Then God blew the breath/spirit of life into that flesh and...

What happens to your soul when you die?

It's my understanding that Revelation was told to John in signs, so the book of Revelation is seriously symbolic. If people want to take Revelation 6:9,10 literally, that's there choice. But I disagree with taking it literally because it seems to me to be contradicting other scriptures by taking...

What are the main doctrinal differences between Jehovah's Witnesses and mainstream Christianity?

People talk about JW hatefully and with hurtful language too. The scriptures tell us to hate what the True ,God says is bad, so I will always hate what I believe to be false religion, because what is false religion belongs to Satan, and what belongs to Satan is bad, so I will always hate what...

A serious questions for the Jehovah's Witnesses on these threads.

I'm not going to care more about days that have nothing to do with the Christian walk, nothing to do with gaining eternal life, over human beings that Jesus Christ died for. I know that these days mean nothing when it comes to the Christian walk neither do they have anything to do about gaining...

What are the main doctrinal differences between Jehovah's Witnesses and mainstream Christianity?

We don't consider people in Catholic churches and protestants churches to be apostates. Apostates are people who believed the truth about the true God then reject it. So the only people we would consider to be an apostate is someone who was once a baptized Jehovah's Witness then rejected what...

A serious questions for the Jehovah's Witnesses on these threads.

Jehovah's witnesses can't do anything about the days of the week and how the world calls each day. Jehovah's witnesses don't have the power to change how each day of the week is to be called. We can however choose not to observe a birthday, or any other day imperfect men say we are to observe...
