A Born-Again Donald Trump? Believe It, Evangelical Leader Says
By TRIP GABRIEL and MICHAEL LUO JUNE 25, 2016. The New York Times
That is the suggestion of James C. Dobson, one of America’s leading evangelicals, who said Mr. Trump had recently come “to accept a relationship with Christ” and was now “a baby Christian."

I've always had a lot of respect for Dr Dobson growing up as a believer on this side of the planet but surely Mr Trump has made a political move for the benefit of gainig support from the Repubican voters? IDK

Would his decision for Christ change your vote America?

I believe he needed to sort out some things with his faith as part of running for president, because he knew the questions would come up.

It seems wasteful to vote for any of the third party candidates,

*irony on* How convenient for Mr. Trump to be reborn just before the election! Of course there is no reason to suspect him of lying about that.* irony off

I dont know... I hope he has accepted Christ. I pray that blessing on everyone I can. But you know, when it comes to something as important as president...

Sounds similar to the "conversion" of Constantine. But who am I to judge? It may well be true considering the time he has spent recently with true Christians as opposed to business associates...there most certainly have been lots of opportunity for testifying of the love of Jesus, so, who knows, maybe the Holy Spirit ministered and Trump responded positively. Good for him if that is the case.

You are possibly right Brakelite...who are we to judge a man's commitment before a loving God. It may well be true indeed! :)

I voted for and supported George W and remain convinced that his given testimony was sincere, but he still lead the U.S. into a decade of warfare under the misguided notion that what the Middle east needs more than anything else is democracy funded by runaway profiteering. I don't know which of our two main candidates for presidential office I find more disturbing. I'm somewhat encouraged by the news that Hillary Clinton was caught in a lie under oath before congress and could face up to five years imprisonment for it, but her husband lied as president, was impeached, and still retained his office, so I'm not holding my breath. I can't help but wonder who the Democratic party would put forward as a replacement for Hillary if indicted, but since that party has long been subverted by liberals and socialists I wouldn't anticipate a candidate that I would be able to support.
I also appreciated and believe the testimony of Jimmy Carter, yet most historians would probably consider his presidency a complete disaster from start to finish.

Another question about this story is should we trust the leaders of the Evangelical community? They could be trying to convince reluctant voters he is OK.

Some of them are, but the word of God tells us that the hearts of kings are in His hands, so ultimately God's will is going to be expressed for good or for evil in the next presidency regardless of who is elected. The thing that concerns me with regard to the "leaders of the Evangelical community" is their position and influence in the "good old boy" network sometimes known as fraternal organizations under the cloak of free masonry. Maybe you've noticed that some ministries will report a period of time when they have a commitment to "matching donations" from some generous and unnamed donor during a fund drive. I can understand a donor's desire for anonymity, but someone that can afford to pay half the bill for a ministry is probably capable of footing the entire bill, and the reason that they choose not to is less easy to understand. When do large sums of money come to a ministry without any expectation of return (now or in eternity)? While there are faithful people with wealth that have been granted a gift to donate generously to the church, an influential mouth with an influential and large ministry also lends itself to the temptation of being used by those that would push an agenda by attempting to regulate content through the threat of lost support. This is one of the reasons that the executive office of government uses the IRS to threaten tax exempt status of ministries that appear to be partisan. The same organization that was instrumental in the founding of the United States has every interest in preserving their influence in the country regardless of what political direction that it takes, and you can be sure that they are heavily invested in both major parties.
I don't know if "the Don" is a member of one of the orders, but it would be somewhat unlikely for a "builder" in the state of New Jersey or in the state of New York to be unaffiliated with traditional freemasonry. This has been the case with the majority of the Presidents of the United States in the past and the tradition has given us what we have now, so I wouldn't really expect any big changes in the way things are done, though I would anticipate some reactionary moves if Mr. Trump plans to keep his election promises.

Donald Trump according to the polls has considerable evangelical support. Although he is is incredibly foul mouthed and narcissistic this does not surprise me. Many evangelicals in the US adhere to a cultural conservatism which is not very different from many secular conservatives. However he is likely to lose possibly by a large margin with the collateral damage of lost Republican seats in Congress. The Republican Party will then wake up as if from a very bad dream and attempt to go back to the type of conservatism that preceded all of this. However with the changing demographics of the country things do not bode well for the Republicans over the long run. The US is going the direction of Western Europe but is simply lagging behind a bit.

my view is that the R party needs to stand behind and help DT as much as possible... What other option is there? These Rs writing anti-Trump letters... HOw stupid... Where were they when it could have done some good? It is far too late now... And those voting for HC... must be as corrupt and a liar as she is...

the Ds are more "united"... I guess b/c they are all crooks... they have to stay togehter because if We the People un-earth one corrupt scheme of one of them, we thereby un-earth corruption in all the others as well.

They are all liars and crooks... virtually all anyway...

why ANYONE votes for them is... well, it is not beyond me... Most Americans do not inform themselves... Look @ Watter's World on O'Reilly.... YIKES! Some people when shown a picture don't even recognize such figures as George Washington or Ronald Reagan!!!!!!!!!!!!

morons..

i dont think morons should be allowed to vote.. Of course you are not a moron just b/c you are uneducated... you are a moron b/c you refuse to educate yourself... I mean, it seems to me that everyone should know at least some of what is going on in the wrld they live in... and the history thereof

but i guess that is just me... (& I cant be too indignant, as i didn't have much interest in history when i was young either... but then, i was not disciplined by my parents. They were negligent in teaching their children... certain important things.. had to educate myself)
