Community doesn't want it. Besides the noise, it would lower their property values they say. I think being in a non-Muslim country, they should try to fit in with the community more. But that is unlikely it seems.

There goes the neighborhood
I know I wouldn't like the blaring sound of it....it would go on for fifteen minutes they said.

There's a mosque in my area but I'm pretty sure they don't do the call to prayer.

I know a few Muslims but they fit in...wear Western clothes, don't cover hair, etc. They like Christian friends better than strict Muslims... don't want to have to eat only Halal. They even had a Jewish friend.

I always pray they will come to know Jesus as their Savior.

I just don't understand a loud speaker being used to call people to say their prayers. I would think it would be more courteous if their members could remember to pray on their own rather than waking up the entire neighborhood with that noise as a reminder for them to pray.

Use a couple pulls on a bell or something if you have to.

I can be a bit partial to the local church bell because I always loved the sound of one of those in the distance whenever I heard it. Its far less intrusive., has a nice ring to it.

In Muslim countries you hear the call to prayer all the time.

I love the church bells. Usually they are only a minute or less so shouldn't get complaints.

Years ago I heard a short hymn played on the church bells nearby. I phoned the church to say how much I loved hearing them! After that, they never played the bells again!!! I shouldn't have phoned.

Maybe the Spanish speaking receptionist thought I was complaining?!

That was weird, you should have called them back and ask, "Was it something I said"?

I don't think she would have understood what I was talking about. But I guess I should have asked what happened to the church bells. :D

You could just put loudspeakers on the roof of your house and play the Hallelujah chorus during the call to prayer, the call to prayer is 3 times a day, that would be annoying. But two can play the game.

We use to live in a village and the church bells were often being used, but for quite awhile , we all kind of got use to it to the point it blended in, a bit like living near an airport of train route. Not sure it would be good if they made the sounds louder though !
