Ephesians 4:11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; The Greek is pretty specific on this one. An Evangelist is simply someone who evanglizes - a simpler definition is one who brings good tidings. A pastor that I listen to brought up this point the other day. He remarked on how modern day evangelists are becoming self-declared teachers of the Word. I thought this verse illustrates that fact quite well - that is the difference of a teacher, pastor, and evagelist. It's an interesting point to think about. We're all called to evangelize and therefore be an evangelist, but simply because we show the lost the milk of the Scripture, it does not necessarily mean that we're to be teachers. All of us are called to do different things and all parts must work together. Going back to the Body of Christ example, is not an arm not fit for the work of a leg and vice versa?
