And that happened back 1990...

Interest in rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem rose to a fever pitch last October when a group calling themselves the “Temple Mount Faithful” attempted to lay a cornerstone for the “Third Temple” at the Western Wall plaza. Denied a place near the wall, Yehuda Cohen and his followers placed the stone at a nearby quarry, awaiting the day when it would be put “in its rightful place.” Two years ago, at the 20-year commemoration of the reunification of Jerusalem, the same group was sounding the shofar and laying claim to the sacred Mount for the Messiah and His Temple.
I don't care. A temple may be built, or not. They may even get around to killing a few sheep. But whatever they do, it isn't because they are fulfilling prophecy. And it certainly isn't fulfilling 2Thess2. Why? Because the temple Paul was talking about belongs to God. It's the temple of God. And the temple of God has His presence abiding within. Any temple built in Jerusalem by the Christ hating modern Pharisees calling themselves rabbis will never be God's temple. That temple will be an abomination. Blasphemy written in brick.

Oh yes it definitely is... about fulfilling Bible prophecy, specifically the "abomination of desolation" prophecy which involves Jerusalem and the traditional stone temple.

It just sounds like you have decided to listen to someone else other than what is written in God's Word about it. I realize certain denominations today still push the old Reformer's doctrine claiming a Roman pope is the Antichrist, and that Paul was pointing to a pope 'spiritually'... sitting in power over the Church, but that's an old 16th century doctrine the Protestant Reformers believed because of what they suffered in Europe under the Catholic Church. Their belief that the pope was the Antichrist per The Bible did not pan out, and the end did not happen like they thought for their days.
