Shalom,Before I go too far with this let me make a comment about wine and water. Most scientist now agree that the wine in the day of Y'SHUA was about 1% alcohol. That is not a typographical error, I said 1%. That is about the same as your average grocery store non-alcoholic grape juice. The preserving process used to make grape juice allows for just a bit of fermenting but not enough that the FDA classifies it as "alcoholic." That however, was the average wine of the day! Average because most people did not have cellars in which to store wine and allow it to ferment. They did not make glass bottles either. Water was the drink of the day!We have often heard that water was not very clean back then but I beg to differ. Every city was built upon a spring. A clean water source. They may have also been built "near" a lake, river or sea but that was not for a supply of drinking water but for other purposes such as sanitation, defense or commerce.
I don't believe this statement, because it definitely was not true during the middle ages. Everyone (men, women, AND children) drank beer during this time. The reason was because of poor sanitation (sewer technology from the Roman Empire was lost). Beer was sterile (due to the alcohol), water was not. Water was just straight up dangerous to drink.http://www.howstuffworks.com/beer.htmPlease give us some sources.

I know, but just because you have a source of clean water doesn't mean that it will be managed properly. Today, we take clean water for granted. (Along with many other things). We in the western world have re-discovered how to manage clean water. (The Romans were experts at this). You can't have a large healthy civilization without a functioning water/wastewater system.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqueducthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanitation_in_Ancient_RomeSO, if water was the drink of the day --- Roman sewer technology must have been present in Israel at that time. (There is a Jerusalem aqueduct in the first link btw). Thats why I want to see his sources.

Shalom,Please read again. There would be a spring as well as another source of water. The second source was for sanitation purposes whereas the spring was the drinking source.
