What are some of the ways you handle temptation if it does ever come up?
Thank you, anyone who would like to comment may and share anything you would like including scripture that may help you as you walk with God in faith and love.
It's not relevant to the thread, but every time I see your Avatar, I can't help but see the character Matthew Broderick played in one of my favorite films "LadyHawke". He played a young Christian vagabond that lived by petty larceny in midievil Europe and was used by God to help lift a curse placed upon two lovers by a lecherous, jealous, and murderous religious authority. Love conquered hypocrisy. It was a truly epic fantasy starring three of my favorite actors.I'm no spiritual giant. As God graciously draws me more and more into the joy and peace of the Holy Spirit, usually in times of despair and trouble, the more I want that over and above the pleasures of sin. It's a journey, and certainly not one I can boast in walking. God is the one making it happen, not me.
You're not wrong but pleasure isn't sin, though sin is frequently pleasurable. God created us to experience pleasure, but restricted our pleasures through the law and for our own good.Even the Bible admits that there is “ pleasure” in Sin.....Who doesn’t want “ pleasure? I think we sin because we think we can do it “ and get away with it”......some people attain wisdom quicker than others and some never attain it at all—— Wisdom shows that Nobody in this lifetime “ gets away” with Anything.....If you give in to Sin—- YOU will be the one that pays the price.... Just about all sin can be traced back to Ignorance —- the ignorance that God’s Ways are ALWAYS better and their are built-in rewards for those that refuse to give in to the temptations in their lives.....We need to pray for Wisdom.....attain “ that” and most temptations will take care of themselves
We reap what we sow, there is no escape from that truth.Even the Bible admits that there is “ pleasure” in Sin.....Who doesn’t want “ pleasure? I'll have to scope that film out. It's not relevant to the thread, but every time I see your Avatar, I can't help but see the character Matthew Broderick played in one of my favorite films "LadyHawke". It tends to color my perception of you, but I should probably watch the Ferris Bueller film at least once. That's a problem with avatars though, isn't it?
Well, if it is I'm sure it will be the most sincere, heartfelt worship possible. If heaven is filled with pious people playing harps and singing Gregorian chants
Yes, that's why I posted that passage.Yup, but don't allow the weaknesses of others to become yours.

My favorite film about the Lord was produced for television, took liberties with scripture, presented some Catholic imagery, but portrayed Jesus as a man who took joy in the simple pleasures of life. I appreciated it more than those depictions of Him as dour or extremely reserved, because scripture tells us that Jesus was tempted in all the ways we are, but remained without sin, fully God, but fully man.
If heaven is filled with pious people playing harps and singing Gregorian chants, I think I'd prefer an eternity on Earth.
Maybe, but I was in a service at a local Baptist church, the place where I was baptized as an adult, and the singing was so divine, that the man next to me was weeping and we felt a shaking like a vibration that had no source in the structure. It was on the anniversary of Pentecost.Well, if it is I'm sure it will be the most sincere, heartfelt worship possible.
These days I think you'd be very hard pressed to find a congregation that praises and worships in a way that solicits the manifestation of the Spirit. The experience seems to be lost to the church.Maybe, but I was in a service at a local Baptist church, the place where I was baptized as an adult, and the singing was so divine, that the man next to me was weeping and we felt a shaking like a vibration that had no source in the structure. It was on the anniversary of Pentecost.
