I live across the street, down the street, around the corner, and over the hill from several churches.
When I met Christ 35 years ago, it was common to have a brother ask of you" What's the Lord doing in your life today? "How are you brother, how's your faith, how's your obedience?"
It was common to have several younger brothers you were building up, even if you were young yourself, and there were solid older brothers all around.
We prayed together, we studied and ministered together, we raised our children together, and it was mostly all about Christ Jesus.
That's what I remember. All of those people have gone their separate ways, many have left the faith, many have gone on to be with the Lord.
And basically, I just don't fit in anywhere anymore.
I don't see this as an uncommon situation in the Body of Christ, and I think it's time we start looking outside the church building for our fellowship.
Worshipping in the home will be a necessity in the near future, as will be community farming etc. No time like the present to get to know your fellow brothers and sisters in the neighborhood.
Some of the best congregations I ever attended started off as home bible studies.
Pretty sure Christianity exploded on the world in the same manner.
