these two words are thrown around, ad lib, as if easy as if presents no problem - so according to the bible lets see who really believes or repents = no one[Rmns 3] - so it seems we are truly saved, by the saviour of all mankind, in spite of ourselves - this is truly good news and glad tidings of great joy imho - twinc

Love the sentence about the good news.
But do you truly think a person can't repent?
And do you really think a person can't believe?
Is this your situation and so you are projecting this on everyone else, too?
I mean no disrespect...coming at this clinically.

Man o man, I just read Romans 3...you directing your post from v11-18?
Your conclusion would not be my conclusion of Rom 3.
Anyone else?

And ps, I don't throw around belief and repent ad lib...these as both words with profound implications and applications in each person's heart.

Gosh I sound antagonistic..I'm not...I just disagree with your supposition.

And was that Peter called on us to do?

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. " Acts 2:38-39

He told us what to do... and the first part of was to repent. Did he ask something that was not possible? What is impossible for those who have received the gift of the Holy Ghost? Did Jesus come for nothing? Was the gift of the Holy Ghost made available for nothing? Was Peter lying?

What did the promise mean?

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8

Hi Jim
Nice to see your post a discussable thread.
I think the two word go together hand in hand.
I think that you wrote them the right way around, though I know some see it differently and reversed. I think we first see where we stand ,which causes us to then believe, which then leads to repentance.
Not that I have never believed like some, that we have to recite all our sins etc...but believing the Gospel leads to our brokenness...we see our dirt and darkness against Him purity and light. That to me is the place of repentance and change.
