“The doctrine of preservation does not guarantee the preservation of the autographs, for they perished within a few years after their writings. Neither does it guarantee the accuracy of the copies, because errant men copied them. It does guarantee that the complete contents of the infallible Scriptures have been preserved, not in any one manuscript, but somewhere within the manuscript tradition!” –D.O.Fuller, D.D.

@Netchaplain,

If someone was new to the bible what would you recommend they get?
Especially with how much people will tend to qualm over translation errors, and what not?
Can one even trust the Bible's accuracy despite these issues?

There are primarily only two groups of manuscripts: the Majority Text, which contains the majority of all existing manuscripts; the Minority Text, which has only a few but older manuscripts; but they were partly produced by Gnostics, who do not believe Christ was deity.

All translations derive from one of these two sources. The Minority Text manuscripts were rejected by the early scribes and were never used (Alexadrinus codex; Sinaticus codex and the Vaticanus codex, which was used by the Vatican). The Minority Text does not contain the entire Word of God because they have many totally and partially omitted passages. They also contain added words which change the original thoughts of the Traditional Bibles.

The NKJV is the best for a modern translation because it contains the entire Word, and does not change the thought intentions of any passages. All other modern translation from the Minority Text have the same omissions, interpolations (added words to change the thought line) and transpositions (changing the original order of wording).

Nice to hear from you Brother and God bless!

NetChaplin,

I read the prefaces to aboutt he majority and the minorty text.

This is an updated and revised version of the Thompson Chain Reference of the NKJV, which includes different things like this, @Netchaplain thought you might find it intetesting.

It brings forth things like hebrew, arabic, dead sea scroll, targum, and vulgate

Its weird how it says city of destruction but could be Sun, or septuaginet (rightousness).

Still interesting.

And still trust the bible in it being good enough to learn about God, and the Lord and its overall a handy book to have for sure, to grow and learn.

All the best in love brother,
Matthew

True, spiritual growth can only come from studying God's Word and applying it by the Spirit! Only the NKJV and a few others like it contain the entire Word. No other modern translation can claim this because of the hundreds of omissions (Mat 4:4); what's just as bad is the changing (transpositions) and adding (interpolations) of much of Scripture.

Thanks for the reply and comments! God bless!!
