You are missing the point that Jesus sets up the throne, before Satan can sit in it.

The Day of the Lord takes place after Armageddon. The Second Coming brings Jesus and the angels to the earth to gather the sheep and goats, and the final harvest of the wheat and tares, years before Armageddon.

Satan is not handed authority to do anything until God's timing states, when Satan can work.
