Can a Bible believing Christian own a Bar?

In the interesting article is a statement by the bar owner -

Fitzpatrick remarked that the idea was "honestly pretty last minute" as simple pushback against the nationwide promotion for LGBTQ Pride Month.

"I'm Christian. I follow what the Bible says. I love people. I love all types of people and everything. But when you love people, it doesn't mean that you have to necessarily get behind everything they decide to do. And especially with the way things have been going the last few years, as far as how extreme it gets in June," Fitzpatrick said.

I consider myself neither an evangelical or fundamentalist, but a strict Bible-believer. I see no problem or contradiction in this as I READ the full MENU which included beer, wine and spirits. I find it rather refreshing!

Owning a bar would violate this advise:

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV)

Although I do find this bar owners action against the LGBTQ degenerates refreshing.

And consumption of alcohol in moderation is not sin.

The Bible does allow drinking in moderation. I gave up drinking.

There is a philosophical question... that i'll bring into the "bar ownership" equation.

Think on this..

Does the Gun Murder, or does the person who pulls the Trigger. ??

Do the bullets kill, or is it the one who loads the Gun?

What if you are a USA President, and you allow the "lifting of OIL sanctions" against IRAN, that allows them to make more then 70 billion in USD Profit, in the last 3 yrs, and much of that goes to finance Islamic Terrorism.. worldwide.
So, if the MONEY is the Islamic GUN that Kills Jews and Americans and Australians.. and The French and The Brits.... and a sitting USA President is the reason that the PROFIT Money is now loading the Islamic Gun......then Who is really pulling the Trigger that murders innocent people...via "acts of Islamic Terrorism"....., when you add it all up?

So, if the BAR owner sells "spirits", and later the Drinker drives DRUNK and kills 8 kids when He runs over them in a "neighborhood park" in front of their Mother(s)...... then did the Drunk Driver kill them, or did the Christian Bar Owner who give the Driver the Drink? ? ?

I've owned all kinds of bars.
Got one that I sit at in my kitchen.
I've personally made chocolate bars myself...
Eaten I don't know how many Hershey bars and snicker bars.
Then there's the iron bars....
Copper bars
Steel bars....
Glass bars
Plastic bars....

I admit, I enjoy good Bourbon, having an Old Foresester 100 Bourbon tonight. Michiah, I also consider the verse you quote. In a like spirit, I consider: "It is good not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor to do anything whereby thy brother stumbleth." (Rom 14:21 ERV)

To me the question becomes, is it a new saint in the faith, a child in the faith who can be misled; or, is it a legalistic Pharisee who is trying to judge me by his twisted doctrines? I certainly do not wish to mislead the new child in the faith, yet on the other hand I'll resist to the death the legalist, the Pharisee who wishes to judge me, or dictate to me how Christ has told me to live.

drink your wine but do not get drunk for drunkers will not inherit the kingdom and owning a bar is another matter you are making yourself a middleman to make sinners stay a sinner so yup i think that is a bad idea and it seems you are going against the will of God it is no different from selling guns or owning a p*rn site
drunkers will stay as a drunker
a murderer will stay as a murderer
an adulterer will do the same
its because you are providing them the materials to do so

and do not forget you are a christian they might think that since you are a christian and you sell alcohol that they drink to get drunk they would think it is okay they can be a christian be saved and yet still be a drunker

Jesus ate with sinners, people who the Pharisees considered unclean. He met with the Samaritans, people who the Jews considered unclean. Perhaps, instead of looking at the negatives, perhaps look at the contact this bar owner has with ordinary people. Ever considered that as a meeting place those customers may hear and see the gospel at work through the owner.

I saw that and thought great, someone is pushing back. Then it occurred to me, this guy is a Christian and is selling beer, wine and spirits; what a hypocrite.

A bit narrow minded !
What about Christians working in a restaurant serving drinks to earn a wage, or working in a supermarket or shop having to serve people with cigarettes, alcohol ect

Just another person who says he's a Christian and then does what he wants too. He is not a Christian. Churches are full of people like this bar owner. When there is no indwelling of the Holy Spirit in a person, they are just operating in the world system.

This phrase is thrown around a lot to justify ignoring the scriptures.

It’s totally unbiblical.

There is not one instance in the Bible where the Pharisees are rebuked for being “legalistic”.

Their problem was with being HYPOCRITICAL.

Let’s get out of our church echo chambers and start reading our Bibles like a child again…

“…do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues...” (Matthew 6:2, KJV)

“…be not, as the hypocrites...” (Matthew 6:16, KJV)

“But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!” (Matthew 23:13, KJV)

How did the word “hypocrite” get replaced by “legalist”?

Here’s how:

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:9, KJV)

Yes.

Paul teaches it like this..

"being IGNORANT of God's Righteousness (Jesus Himself), they go about trying to establish their OWN Righteousness".

That is SELF Righteousness, or self saving... trying to DO righteousness, vs, God making you righteous by the "imputed righteousness of Christ".
