The latest narrative in Canada is that we are going into a trade war with US. So stupid, Trump Says Secure the border, OR they impose tarrifs. So the response from Trudeau and Doug Ford is that we should FIGHT Trump ( no talk about securing the border ). Use some common sense. Danielle Smith (Alberta premier)is the only premier making any sense on the matter. Any thoughts?

I do have one thought: Donald said (jokingly, I hope) that Canada could be our fifty-first state. Problem with that is that it would give our Senate and House of Representatives more Democrats, and a greater Democrat influence in the Electoral College.

Canada could do whatever is reasonable to guard its border with the United States (though off the top of my head, I don't know what that would be).

Well I plan to boycott American products there should be a surplus with the giant tariffs the USA is going to apply there should be some good deals on products from other countries.We don't pay it Americans do on products it will just be harder for Canadian products to sell in the USA.We need to open trade to more countries for a better selection.Of course there is a surplus in trade we don't have the same population - consumers it can never be even.We need to look else where and it should be expected especially with the continual insults from Trump on our country.We have no choice everyone is the enemy of the USA under Trump.

I have relations in Canada on my mums side and a old mate of my big brother who lived across the road from him for some years, he went back home, his name was Canada ! great bloke !

There is a lot going on in the world that is not in the news.

When the US was first forming it was a kind of stepchild under British rule. Now that the US is established and the Commonwealth nations are in trouble, Canada stands to be taken in by the US. But unlike the British, the US does not intend to make Canada a cash cow.

But make no mistake, Trump is not making a move to take over Canada. It's a rescue mission.
