The words I quoted are a doctrine for the Christian church; not my doctrine. And it should be clearly understood by a Christian. I think it is called the "perspicuity of Scripture".
so, there you go--a doctrine that i maybe agree with, but i guess BreadofDeath would have some objection to, likely revolving around his rejection of Scripture in general or something, but you would have to ask him. And he no doubt has some extra-Biblical document that he considers compelling in the matter, too.

It surprises me to read posts all over this board (and the internet for that matter) that appear to promote the idea that knowing Jesus means possessing a theologians understanding of doctrine / scripture; it's a mistake. Doctrine is an interest and somewhat of a hobby for me - loving God and neighbor is my Christianity.

Translation: "I'm getting tired of beind exposed by you, so I'll bow out."
No just tierd of fighting the devil. Was hoping to bow out gracefully, but nice is impossible with you.

One simple question, it is written

Joh_14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Is it true or is it not.

Trinity is just a pagan heresy, and most Christians accept that God is One, sorry; prolly you are fixated on Catholics. But i guess there is even a "Twoness" doctrine, that i am not too familiar with
The Trinity has been taught for 2000 years, my historically-bankrupt friend.
Have you ever cracked open a history book?? It's on the shelf - right next to your dusty, untouched Bible.

MOST other beliefs about the nature of God were condemned as heresies LONG before the Protestant Revolt - and even before the East-West Schism. Take your pick:
Gnosticism
Arianism
Montanism
Pelagianism
Nestorianism
Sabellianism
Monophysitism
Manicheaism
Marcionism

Iconoclasm

There are many more - but then, there have always been heretics.
You're just part of the latest crop of people who were ignorant enough about Scripture to be seduced into one of these heresies . . .

It's absolutely true. Everything Jesus said is true because He IS truth itself (John 14:6).
His Church is the pillar and foundation of that truth (1 Tim. 3:15) - NOT the individual . . .

no more or less whacked than the rest of your self serving pagan/religious perspective, i guess.

How are you still even posting here? I'm guessing you are like related to the site owner or something?

You never seem to be able to answer this question:
Can you tell me exactly what I said in my post that merits being banned or where I engages in "name-calling"??

yes, that would be pretty easy--well, not to tell you, because of course no one can tell you anything, but anyone else on the planet would agree immediately. Of course to your mind you are just stating the obvious, or "helping" someone to see how "ignorant" they are or whatever lol. It has already been remarked upon several times in your case, by many different people.

i just wish that you had to be honest and put "Catholic" there where it says "Christian," as to most peoples' minds there is a distinct difference. It is duplicitous at best. And i like most Catholics just fine.

People have no idea the damage they do to their own cause....

Bread of Life - what is your goal? Are you promoting your relationship with Jesus? The Catholic Church?

If you are just here to 'defend the truth', all you are really doing is daring people who disagree with you to throw the first punch so you can be right. I believe this is called baiting

Jesus didn't tell anyone to go forth and bait. The reason? He wanted to promote loving God and Neighbor rather than fostering meaningless persecution

When Jesus told his disciples that the world will hate them for his sake, he wasn't setting a benchmark for true devotion.

Very interesting and thought provoking post. Not sure if I agree or disagree.

Jesus said come and learn of me. He said we must worship in spirit and in truth. Peter said we are kings and priests in training. So I tend to look at doctrine in high regard. Its got to be right!

But Peter, John and Paul never required a "theologians" mastery of the scripture. Peter said we know it though. .. We just have to have our minds stirred up. Think John hinted at the same thing and Paul... Ever thw scholar was big on obtaining further knowledge.

I do think its something we should strive towards. I mean seriously.... Is there anything more interesting? Is there anything thats going to matter more in the afterlife?

Jesus compred us to salt. You eat salt and you are going to be thirsty. Salt doesn't beg anyone to drink water. Doesn't have to.

So if you are the salt of the earth... Just be salty. Be joyous. Folks will aee you being victorious despite anything. Then they will ask your secret. You just got them hooked!

Doesn't take knowledge of doctrine. ... But goibg further is going to be hard without it.

I enjoyed your post, FHII - thank you.

For me, being salty has become and is becoming 'Knowing' scripture, doctrine, God - mind + emotions + will as instrument and in symphony.

This life has been quite an experience.......

Again I am not sure that knowing the scripture is equivalent to knowing the scripture. The thief on the cross next to Jesus may have known nothing about Jesus, other than he was something special and was who he said he was. I don't know. Haven't thought about it.

There is a unique thing about that man. It was his last hour and if i am right, he knew nothing. He just knew Jesus was innocemt and it was in him to ask what he did.

He was blessed, but we are blessed in that we aren't staring death in rhe face before we can know him.

Yes.

It is an interesting paradox that one can know God instantly and after a lifetime - It is the same knowing. The parable of the workers in the vineyard comes to mind. God is so much more real than we are; he is always present, always relevant

It becomes hard to talk about because he is beyond words - when I try to be clear, I end up moving into prayer......

no more or less whacked than the rest of your self serving pagan/religious perspective, i guess.
And you have YET to explain why my beliefs are "Pagan".
Making an empty, baseless accusation is ONE thing.
PROVING it is a different kettle of fish . . .
How are you still even posting here? I'm guessing you are like related to the site owner or something?
And here we go again with the same, tired post from other threads.
You have YET to show me where I called you a name.

Saying that a person is ignorant of history and Catholic doctrine is an observation based on ignorant remarks.
Calling a person an "ignoramus" is name-calling - and I've never done that.

LEARN the difference . . .

I'm here to squash lies, myths and fairy tales perpetrated about the Catholic Church.
Anti-Catholics have been allowed to post this filth FAR too long - and people like me expose them so that others seeking the truth don't get polluted by this rubbish.

You should be happy that somebody stands up for truth - and should be offended when people lie.

Nobody is asking anybody to agree with Catholic teaching. That's between you and God.
I am asking that you all stop telling LIES because that is an abomination to God - whether you agree with Catholic teaching or not.

Ummmm, Catholics were the very FIRST Christians, so you might want to consider getting off your high anti-Catholic horse.

The problem with people like you and Sword and Job is that you guys would fail a simple, rudimentary course in History - let alone a Bible course.
Yoi'd get an "A", however, in Revisionism 101 . . .

Doctrine at the expense of love? No thanks.

Jesus didn't ask people "Who do you say I am?", in order to bait them or punish them. He was starting a relationship.....

I do not see you starting a relationship here.....just an observation

Coptics and Orthodox lay claim to the same idea of being FIRST; honestly, it reminds me of the disciples grumbling and arguing about would was first among their group
