In order to maintain the current population (in any society) the live birth rate for EVERY woman of child bearing years needs to be 2.7. Meaning every woman needs to have a minimum of 3-4 children. The USA Currently has a 1.7 live birth rate for women.

As a woman do you relish the idea of 3-4 kids?

As a man do you want to father 3-4 kids?

Are YOUR children planning on parenting 3-4 of their own?

What do you think they feel about it?
No, my older son and daughter have one child each, and definitely passed wanting anymore
My middle son has two children , also no desire to have anymore
my youngest lives with me , has mental health issues and has no desire to even be in a relationship.

I think size of home is a factor but also cost of living. My middle son and his wife spend a fortune on nursery, after school clubs ect because they both have to work full time. They have just moved to Northern Ireland to get a bigger home ( houses are cheaper there than in the south of England.
My oldest relationship broke down and he remarried some years later but my daughter in law doesn’t want children.
My daughter would have loved to have another child but got hyperemesis and just couldn’t face going through that again. Interestingly I got that with all four of mine, the last one was worse and wasn’t planned as I had been sterilised. Being sick for nine months was awful !

A good reason for controlled and orderly immigration

Exactly the type of answers I was looking for.
Thank you!

Thank you for your post.

We are delighted with 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Would we wish our children had larger families? Yes, but that is their choice.

Going slightly off-topic: It may be that believers have larger families than non-believers, and that is a good thing. However, rather than encourage non-believers to have more children, we would prefer they turn to God first.

Is more immigration the answer? Ok, but not what we have been seeing in the USA the last four years.

Peace.

I have 2 children and I would have had many more. I had 2 miscarriages and so I stopped after that.

My daughter and her husband has 1 child(aged 7) and my son and his girlfiend have none yet. But he is busy on a year long mission/ excercise at sea, so certainly when they marry I am hoping they will have them. My daughter does not want any more children as she loves her new job.

I think the high cost of living is a factor these days as Rita said above, nursery fees are huge these days, I had the luxury of helping my daughter navigate those fees, but not all nana's can afford or are willing to give up their time(or job) for that. I will also do the same for my son if he needs it. Family comes first.

Children today seem to be viewed more as expensive luxury items than a natural part of life for many people today.

This needs to change in our society. Immigration can't fuel our culture. It can be a part of it....but it can't sustain us.

The billionaires funding the panic over "falling birth rates" don’t care about culture or families.
They care about who’s going to stock their warehouses, drive their trucks, and keep their profit machines running.
That’s why they push for mass immigration and high birth rates — not to save civilization,
but to prop up a dying economic system built on endless, unsustainable growth.

So they peddle fear:
“Have more kids or the world ends!”
While quietly lobbying for:
“Import millions of migrants or our margins collapse.”

The "OMG! Falling birthrates, what will we DO!!!! Nonsense" is a lie — and the misled parrot it like it’s the gospel.

And if society made it better for women to stay at home and not need to work to be able to survive, that would help too.

I worked one or 2 nights a week in a hospital, just for holiday money and special days out...it was not for survival money back then like it is now.
The rest of the week was housework and home life. Which was much better than today in my eyes.

Working all day when you were created for child bearing and rearing a household is tiresome. I feel like I am working just to keep the millionaires millionaires. no one can seem to live on one wage today. ☹️

put a group of women with children together and they are great with one another.

put them in a workplace and they are bitches with one another

As a man do you want to father 3-4 kids?
My wife came to our marriage with two boys. She'd had her tubes tied when it became obvious that her first marriage was going to fail. So, while I tried to fill the role of "father", I never "fathered" any children. Nor did my brother, so my family name will die when I do.

Now, a couple at my church in SoFla, the wife's tubal ligation somehow reversed itself, and they found themselves parents again in their 40s. It's not quite Abraham and Sarah, but it looks like a miracle to me.
