At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. - John 14:20.
The knowledge to come from the Holy Spirit being poured out on the day of Penecost! that knowledge was to do something to it's listener's. That was going to be the knowledge that would establish a believer in Christ - and the union oneness was going to be made real to the individual by revelation. A revealing was to take place..it was all going to happen on this particular day (Pentecost) and from that day on humanity could know something. Born again humanity can have a knowing (you shall know) and that knowing is revealed by the Holy Spirit. Look at our text verse and see exactly what the Spirit will be revealing.
Look at what the Holy Spirit is going to do after being poured out on all flesh! He would reveal Christ to the believer. He would reveal Christ as the only life of the believer. His primary reason for being poured out on all flesh was to reveal Christ ..in and to the born again believer. Paul tells us 'when it pleased God to reveal his Son in me.'
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
16 to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: - Galatians 1:15-16.
Paul has some year's in ministry before Christ is revealed in him (when it pleased God - has to do with the element of time). I have heard different speculation on it..from 3-7 years after his conversion. But the point is made there is a revealing of Christ in you by the Holy Spirit!
I was 10 years in the Lord before I had a revelation of the indwelling Christ. When I use terms like 'it comes in a package we do not expect.' That is what I'm talking about. I didn't even know what I was searching for but I was searching. A dear brother began to share this message of Christ in us as our life - and while he was talking to me I seen it. It was like my minds eye opened and I could see Christ as the life of the believer. I had a revelation of Christ in me as my only life..as well as seeing Christ in other believers. I nolonger had to judge them based on what they believed or where they went to church - I could see Christ was in all believers the moment they believed! It would come by a birth and not by anything they could say or do.
You grow to understand soul and spirit.. and how to divide that. The Holy Spirit teaching a believer is how you grow in grace and knowledge, you must understand what he is trying to teach you. We get frustrated with the process at times, but do not make the mistake of the Holy Spirit trying to make you better..or give you power to live some kind of Holy life..your only holiness and righteousness is; Christ in you the hope of glory. That needs to be revealed to every born again Christian. You cannot live anything you do not know!
