I am not sure at all how it can be inept to shoot someone who is attacking you with a knife. Mental instability in this situation is extremely dangerous because they have lost the capacity often to respond to commands. They will attack you in a heartbeat. Cops don't have some special superhuman ability to dodge a knife attack or block one or withstand a slash or stab.

I'm not sure what kind of training you have received to be able to stop someone from attacking you with a knife. Perhaps you would like to share with us the special training you have on how to do that.

However, I whole heartedly agree that we are in a spiritual battle and not just a political one. Our enemy has begun an all out assault on this country and he is the author of chaos. There was a time when people would completely understand and support the police in situations like this b cause they knew the difficulty and the danger of it. But now, people are so tied to chaos that they have lost the ability to reason. And THAT is a tool of the enemy.

The Bible tells us the devil is the great deceiver and mans mind is darkened by evil. It also tells us that man has taken pleasure in unrighteousness. And that is what is happening in these cities right now.

I also saw the video, and if I had been warned in advance that I was dealing with a mentally unstable individual, I think I would have used a little more judgment than lighting him up when he was leisurely walking towards me and still roughly 20 feet away. I'm not impressed with two men filling him full of holes simply because it was "procedure."

And yes, I'm fully aware that 20 feet is where procedure says to use lethal force.

Procedure or no procedure, I would have been cognizant of the fact that another death of a black man caught on tape at this particular time might end up costing more people their lives and their livelihoods than just mine. I certainly would have waited till he was at least a little closer than that to end his life. If their procedure is to not even equip the PD with tasers, and then not use any judgment in situations with serious implications like this, I think they need to rethink what they are doing as far as training is concerned.

What I see is an inability to think on both sides of the fence, whether white or black, Democrat or Republican.

Actually 20 feet is a misnomer. There was a study conducted years ago the simply stated that a knife wielding man is dangerous even at a distance of 20 feet. It showed how a knife wielding man could get to you and stab you even at a 20 foot distance if you were armed with a gun. Officers could get about two shots off before being stabbed at 20 feet. It was NOT ever meant to be some sort of safe distance measure.

And you should never resort to a taser in a lethal confrontation. Not without deadly force back up. In this case the officers didn't have that option anyway, so they still ARE NOT INEPT.

You would not have had better judgement in this circumstance. I've seen people enter training just to see what they would do and they don't use any better judgement at all and end up making the same decisions as officers or if they don't they end up dead or injured.

Until you have faced a deadly encounter with a derranged individual you have no idea what you are talking about. Until you do under these circumstances your opinion carries no weight. And that is part of the problem today.

I doubt very much if anyone would try and tell a doctor how they should perform a surgery or a fire fighter how they should fight a fire. But that patient is not coming at that doctor with a knife with the intent to harm him and that fire is an inanimate object.

We need to back off the idea that somehow we are so much smarter and so much better at doing a cops job than the cops are.

It may well be that the police shot this man so that he would not harm anyone, not just the police. I don't know, but you are right about the spirit at work in the "sons of disobedience!"

It's like there are more demons these days provoking people to craziness. I don't think a democracy can work in this environment. It requires people accept they will not get their way, and to agree to disagree.

Of course not. And they were undoubtably defending more than themselves in that instance. But have you seen the video? For one thing you can't even see the knife it's so small, and for another he didn't look like much of a threat at the time as far as I'm concerned. He wasn't running after the cops, he was walking slowly and gesturing. Like the world is supposed to be terrified out of their boots.

The whole thing brings up the question of if procedure in this case is well-thought out, and if training is truly sufficient, and I think the blacks have every right to bitch here.

Amen. Too many Christians have their heads in this world more than in the next. I know they are well-meaning, but it's not gonna phase me in the least, nor is it somehow going to defeat the kingdom of God, if this country went full-on Communist. When you get right down to it, it's a matter of how much do people trust in the power of God in any and every situation.

Nothing stops me from fulfilling my calling. Nothing. So the rest becomes like a spectator sport. I just hate to see things escalate again so easily when I think it could have been prevented with a little more wisdom.
