You as a believer you will always be the one to make the decision in consecration. There is a lot more to understanding consecration than can be expressed in a chat forum in a thread. Consecration has to do with your understanding of Christ as the do-er. What is Christ doing in you? He lives in you and is your Life, only life.
What is "only life" only life means you have no life of your own. Your Understanding of life will need to start with your previous life. In previous life you had no life of your own. It was never intended by God for the creature to have a life of their own.
Adam is our confirmation of the creature without a spirit. Adam was created a living soul, without spirit, but with the ability to contain spirit. Or Adam had a human spirit, but the scriptures don't say that is how Adam failed God. As far as we know Adam did not recieve a spirit-nature-life at creation, but he did recieve spirit-nature-life when he believed what Satan said, confirmation is in Gen. 3:15 in understanding the seeds. Now Adam became a living spirit, which means he had a spirit-nature-life-seed now. Be it a disobedient enslaving sin-nature, but Adam now has life, death-life, but a life. He had a Satan life, he had a Satan-sin-death-life-nature-seed.
So life has always come from another. As it is with Christ now, Believers get their life from Christ, Gal. 2:20,
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Humanity has never had a life of their own, they have always been dependent on their nature.
Why do Believers have a hard time expressing Christ in fullness at times, it comes from the old rebel sin nature that trained you from the day you were born. Even though believers have a new Christ nature, the mind still wars with their new nature. Why would someone do that, it seems inconceivable a believer would treat Christ in this kind of fashion.
It's simple; the mind before Christ had to continually war against the sin nature. The law was given to Israel to keep the sin nature from going completely reprobate. Look at the nations around Israel, most were reprobates. So believers today will still try to control their new nature, but what happens is the new Christ in you nature needs no controlling. Hence Paul uses terms such as "be renewed in your mind" "let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus" it will always be your soul-mind that causes you the most trouble.
The mind has to be, imperative, that it is compatible with the new Christ in you nature. There in is the peace of the believer and all Consecrated life will come through your understanding.
