Stop being an alarmist, sensationalist.

I'm just showing you the facts. Instead of getting excited, think. This isn't all that hard to understand, if you take the time to learn how epidemics work.

Thousands of deaths will make people think so, yes.
The problem is that famine and decease and rumors of war, etc., are not the battle. The human condition includes many such attacks. Everyone dies. That much is natural. But what we are seeing perhaps for the first time in history, is the justification of self tyranny, or a modern form of dictatorship, of which there can be only one conclusion, if not diminished: rebellion.

But a pandemic, with infections and deaths increasing exponentially, gets our attention. As it should.

Yeah that is eventually what will happen.

This is why it was so foolish for Trump to initially try to cover it up. When people realized he was lying, they panicked. That's not surprising.

Well, let's take a look...

Here’s what the president said in public remarks, interviews and tweets from Jan. 22 to March 10 -– one day before the World Health Organization declared the global outbreak a pandemic.

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.” — Trump in a CNBC interview.

Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five — and those people are all recuperating successfully. But we’re working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it’s going to have a very good ending for us … that I can assure you.” — Trump in a speech in Michigan.

Feb. 10: “Now, the virus that we’re talking about having to do — you know, a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.” — Trump at the White House. (See our item “Will the New Coronavirus ‘Go Away’ in April?“)

Feb. 14: “There’s a theory that, in April, when it gets warm — historically, that has been able to kill the virus. So we don’t know yet; we’re not sure yet. But that’s around the corner.” — Trump in speaking to National Border Patrol Council members.

Feb. 23: “We have it very much under control in this country.” — Trump in speaking to reporters.

Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!” — Trump in a tweet.

Feb. 26: “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.” — Trump at a White House briefing.

Feb. 26: “And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” — Trump at a press conference.

Feb. 26: “I think every aspect of our society should be prepared. I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.” — Trump at a press conference, when asked if “U.S. schools should be preparing for a coronavirus spreading.”

Feb. 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.” — Trump at a White House meeting with African American leaders.

Trump's Statements About the Coronavirus

And he knew better:

WASHINGTON — A powerful Republican senator who has come under fire for selling stocks after receiving a private briefing about the novel coronavirus said he has asked for an ethics review into the matter.

North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr sold between $628,000 and $1.72 million in stocks in mid-February after he and other senators received a briefing from top government health officials about the coronavirus, ProPublica reported on Thursday. As chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Burr was also receiving briefings on the coronavirus from the country’s spy agencies. And in late February, Burr privately delivered starker warnings about the possible widespread effects of the coronavirus than he had publicly, according to a recording obtained by NPR. Since then, the coronavirus pandemic has rocked businesses and caused stock values to plummet.

You knew this, or should have. Why bear false witness, daily?
Trump is used to using bluster and bravado to impress people and pretend something isn't true when it is. That can work sometimes with people. Even when it doesn't work, he often intimidates people into silence. Perhaps he's learning that viruses aren't impressed by what he says and can't be intimidated the way people can. But then again, maybe he can't learn. He seemed to think he could determine where a hurricane could hit by drawing marks on a map with a sharpie.

@lforrest this thread has lived beyond its usefulness. It is now used to spread fear and panic, or to also say to do absolutely nothing and trust God, this thread needs to be locked.
That is a contradiction in terms, and wrong. To "trust God" is not "absolutely nothing", but is Life.

On the contrary, acting responsibly does not mean leaning on our own understanding and following our own path. Rather than lock the thread, this would be a great place to talk about what that looks like, what it looks like to responsibly seek and look to God in crisis.

A principle of democracy is that people can be trusted with the truth. It was the fear of telling us the truth that got us into this fix. Every day the federal government told us that everything was going to be O.K. produced greater panic when the truth got out (as it always will in a free nation).

We're not all going to die. But more of us will die because of the cover-up; even a few weeks were decisive in making the pandemic worse.

People will do better if they know the truth.

Careful not to look only to the politics.

In the beginning all truth was not given...on purpose. If it was and is good of God to have done the same in the beginning, the same is not wrong by leaders.

A principle of democracy is that people can be trusted with the truth.
And the mainstream media decided that that principle should be VIOLATED every day. So they lie through their teeth daily and think that people are too stupid to see through their FAKE NEWS.

There is not one journalist on the Left who has had the courage and the honesty to tell his fellow Leftists and the Democrats to stop lying to the people.
