What did you expect out of the people of the time? To convert to Islam?

That makes me wonder now about what you expect out of the people of Spurgeon’s time who sat under his preaching and pastoral care.

@Armour of God presumably expects them to convert to Islam. (That’s ignorance.) @Wrangler knows better than that. (Good on him.)

But you? There was no Ziglar. So now what?

My favorite author was John Bunyan. Who also served in the English Army. I have read his entire library. I have not read much into the late 1800's evangelist such as Charles Spurgeon or DL Moody. I have read D.L. Moody went to London to meet Spurgeon, whom he had admired from a distance. However, when Spurgeon answered the door with a cigar in his mouth, Moody was in shock. “How could you, a man of God, smoke that?” protested the great American evangelist.

Spurgeon took the stogie out of his mouth and walked down the steps to where Moody was still standing in bewilderment. Putting his finger on Moody’s rather rotund stomach, he smiled and said, “The same way you, a man of God, could be that fat!”

You can have all the Moody and Spurgeon to your bellies filling. I have little use for the guys.

I say what Nathaniel said. That’s what I believe. That’s what I teach. That’s what I preach. I’m willing to die for it. I’m not willing to kill Muslims for it. I’m not willing to kill you or anyone else for it.

Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, the Son of God, the king of Israel, is my king.

Does that make any difference to you?

Early Church history. The early Christians followed the teaching and example of Jesus and the apostles regarding how to treat enemies. Their voices are raised against you in these volumes.

Jesus and the apostles taught the followers of Jesus to evangelize our enemies, not to kill them. Somewhere deep down inside, I think you know that.

You’re not defending Christianity. You’re defending Medieval Roman Catholicism.
