None of what you posted is true.

All of what he posted is true.

A good man should be respected, not because he is nice, but because he is peaceful. Being peaceful is a choice to restrain his capacity to kill you. This is far different from harmless, which lacks violent capacity AND the necessity to be respected.

This is why Jesus told us to fear the LORD, who has the capacity to destroy our body and soul. Violent conquest is the story of the Bible.
  1. From Adam and Eve getting kicked out of Eden
  2. to killing animals to atone for sin
  3. to Jesus death on the cross
  4. to Judgment Day, the damned put in The Lake of Fire.
Did you miss all that?

Claiming otherwise is to undermine the God we serve, who is a warrior. And we are made in THAT image. I don’t seek violence but don’t shy away from it either. The best way to secure peace is to prepare for war. George Washington. We all know there are metaphors for war and asymmetric warfare but the foundation of it all is literal, violent war. General Patton told his men not to die for their country but make the poor bastard who is the enemy die for their country. Amen and Amen.

Disciples of Jesus must follow Jesus and the apostles, not the Georges.

“Francis of Assisi represented an otherworldly counterforce to the papacy. Yet his mystical relationship with God through reverence for nature, creatures, and humanity exhibited the foremost example of Christian pacifism in the Middle Ages.”

(Dale W. Brown, Biblical Pacifism, p. 150)

“As followers of Jesus, we will keep on singing: ‘We’re not going to study war anymore.’ But we will study and be about the things that make for peace.”

(Dale W. Brown, Biblical Pacifism, p. 168)

The final word in his book. It’s a banger.

No.

What does Jesus expect his followers to do when they are being persecuted?

Doesn’t Jesus himself tell us and show us? Don’t the apostles?

”We do not use the weapons of the world.” - Paul
That is the subject of this sermon (I filled in for a Mennonite pastor) "Disciples, War, and the New Testament"
