Day and Nights are equal in my parts (Sept 26)

Winter's coming fast.... sigh. Today, this very day September 26, the days and nights are now officially equal in my area, and the days will only get shorter. This is latitude dependent, so you folks down south of me (I'm at about 40º N) have a little ways to go, but not much, And you unfortunate folks up north or me already have slightly longer nights than days.

On the equator, the days are always slightly longer than the nights. So there is no equal day or night there.

We are further south of you; but are intrigued by the fact that our summer temperatures are somewhat higher than temperatures on the equator.
Of course our winter temps are lower than yours too.

It's an extremely hot summer for NZ this year and our winters are not severe like they are in some parts of the US. Looking forward to colder weather ahead.
