There's an ancient proverb that goes something like this: "You can't cheat an honest man". Con artists from time immemorial know this all too well. They wouldn't dare approach someone with impeccable integrity and character unless they could see some flaw or sign of hubris to work their way into.

The fact is that those closest to the truth are the best liars. This is not to suggest that those who are closest to the truth would necessarily lie. It should spotlight that those who are closest to the truth cannot be deceived. If one cannot be deceived, then how or why would they ever do what is blatantly idiotic? Why would they intentionally do what others can only do through ignorance? The answer is; they wouldn't. Therefore those who know that they are doing something that they shouldn't, really don't know what the hell they're doing. They are essentially and most effectively ignoring reality in favor of willingly being deceived.

Once this has occurred, it creates an environment that becomes ever more conducive to deception; a virtual reality where there are no ramifications or consequences to one's choices other than leading one deeper and deeper into chains of terminal longing despair. The only compliment to this bondage is an incomprehensible insistence that one is not only free, but in possession of a free will. Nothing could be more ridiculous. When the truth is not an option, it can't be chosen. Instead, truth does the choosing.

So what is the next best thing when the truth cannot be seen nor chosen? Believe. Believe the truth even if you don't see it. Act as if that is an option. This is not salvation. This will not save you. This will only facilitate the correct behavior which will in turn present a more accurate picture of reality. It will draw you closer to an understanding of the truth, but your understanding will never be able to save you because the intellect is not the mediator between God and men.

The truth can never be seen from a perspective of ignorance, but ignorance, lies, falsehood, etc. can be seen for what they are from within the truth. All is laid bare. There is nowhere to hide from the truth.

The truth is always evident to those who seek it, but only for its own sake. The truth reveals what deceit hides in ignorance.
