In the 17th Century, in Massachusetts, bored teenage girls started have fake convulsions and claiming that people, mostly, but not limited to, odd, older women - were witches. Quite a few people were hanged until they claimed that the Governor's wife was a witch. He then put an end to this nonsense.

To have this nonsense resurface in the 21st Century is ludicrous.
Maybe next people will claim that their church is being invaded by werewolves, vampires, or aliens from outer space.

No wonder people ridicule Christians.
Thanks, John. To add to that in case anyone is wondering...people that call themselves witches don't believe in the devil and certainly don't worship him. They believe the devil is a being that was invented by Christians.

Madonna and Lady gaga are both lesbian witches and admit to it.
Madonna a lesbian? That is going to come as a surprise to the fathers of the children whom she gave birth to.

Angelina, have you heard about the satanic scare in the late 1980s in America? It is well documented. Rumors were flying around the media that multiple groups of satanists were conducting satanic ritual killings of animals and children across the country. Heraoldo Rivera is credited with starting the scare. Despite all the gossip and general uproar - police and investigators found zero evidence of satanic crimes. It was all hype and it lasted three or four years.
no... I had never heard of this. Who is Harold Rivera? We are pretty much isolated in this part of the world however, we did have lots of stuff coming from Jack Hayford "Focus on the Family" around that time and Derek Prince was quite popular here.

Bless ya!

I remember it well aspen .... it even spread up into calm and rational Canada ..... policemen lost their jobs because of alleged satanism .... daycares closed because of alleged satanism ..... fathers removed from their families and children because of alleged satanism ..... teacher let go because of alleged satanism ............ lots of harm was done.

When the dust settled it was all a crock of bull ..... but society can never repair the damage done to those lives of the falsely accused.

It got so bad that "social workers" were believing children word for word on allegations .... all they had to say was one bad thing about a teacher .... and the teacher was out of a job ..... the children loved the power they had and invented clever story upon clever story and watched adults fall like flies all around them

Most of the initial satanism scares originated in the charismatic churches.

We have to think carefully about why that is so.

America has many fringe daytime shows which are hugely popular ..... Heraldo Rivera is one of them

The content of the shows is often one pregnant woman on stage with 5 men who all could possibly be the father and they argue and fight for an hour.

Utter nonsense if you ask me ..... they stoop down and scrape up the dredges of society and make a public spectacle of it all.

They are not christian in any manner whatsoever.

Christians invented the devil? L.O.L
Yep. The devil really only exists as an actually being or angel in monotheistic religions.

Light vs dark, good vs evil have been around long before christianity, they are what they call jungian archetypes (human nature),you find them in all cultures and civilizations. The pagan egyptian gods set and horus are good examples of this.

At least in America, one would hope that we learned something from the Salem witch trials. There should not be anyone going to prison for "witchcraft". As far as I know it is not against the civil law. I do think we need to bring back the idea of discipline of members in the church, expelling those involved in obvious sins. "Come as you are, no need to change (obey God)", has left churches open to destruction from within.
