In Engel v. Vitale, (1962), the Supreme Court ruled that school-sponsored prayer in public schools violated the establishment clause of the First Amendment.
You have a hard time with short term memory loss don't you?
1962, typical start of the day in each class in most of American. Stand, Pledge Allegience to the Flag ......say a word of prayer led by the Office on the PA System or by the teacher .
The decision was reached that the leadership of the prayer and the requirement to stand made it a government controlled event ....
This new decision states that the Coach could pray on his own in silence at the middle of the field and no one can touch him ...The School Board decided they could stop him because it irriated them. ...But you and the Canadian felt that was not Constitutional .......It was exactly Constitutional because the government made no law ....
Now you have hissy fits because DeSantis declares that the state and the school cannot stop the students from praying before or after an athletic event. DeSantis and the State Legislature declares it is illegal for the School Boards to dictate that the students cannot pray on their own .......Wrong .....you are both ignoring Constitutional law and inserting your fascism into the equation. You have no control and can't stand the thought .
You made one point correct ........They could pray all along. Now when they gather voluntarily.........you can't stop them and it irriates you both .......Good.

Actually it was indoctrination.
No one was stopping them.
No school board was doing anything of the sort

The School Board was doing exactly that. Initially he was told they had no problem with him praying alone. Then it was .....students are joining you that is against OUR policy. Then it was you cannot pray alone after the game ......followed by You are fired. ....

The local tyrants.... are those who believe that if 98 on the football team are Christian, and 1 is a muslim.. .the 98 should be "prayer gagged" so that they don't offend the religious "rights" of the muslim.
Sure they can pray by themselves... but lets not do that on the sideline., in front of the Crowd.... in front of the muslim.
You know....
Redefine the family as 2 gay men and a helpless baby, because most of the Country is offended.
Its all about offending God's morality using the legal system, under the guise of "rights".
The backlash that is going to happen in the USA against this stuff, is going to be EPIC, and that is even before Jesus comes back to make some righteous changes to that unholy mess.

Yes they were .....The School Board changed the rules constantly to finally fire the coach because they disagreed with his praying alone or not .....
It's that simple ...And SCOTUS told the school board and you liberals ....You are out of your mind. Try reading the Constitution .......Too bad you didn't earn how to use common sense in school. They didn't teach that class .....where you went ....
Was he praying out loud like you would hypocrite? Understand the verse and the content before shouting from the basement ...
