The Middle East today, despite being the origin of most of the major world religions, is of course a huge and complicated mess, filled with endless conflicts between groups and militant extremism, as well as persecution of minorities, especially Christians.
Syria is perhaps the greatest place of conflict for the past conflict, or at least the place with the greatest amount of casualties. The war there is very complicated, with various different factions constantly competing with each other, the Kurds and Turks, the Syrian rebels and Assad, and other powers such as Russia trying to meddle as well occasionally.
Should America try to intervene? Is there any way to ultimately end the conflict, once and for all, and bring peace to the region?
After 10 years of war Syria still a 'living nightmare,' says U.N. chief
