Hi there!
So my Dad got diabetes and it has always sort of bothered me, that I have started out life with the same sweet-tooth and eating habits as him. For a long time, I didn't know what to do about it and then I started to realise it was a spiritual battle. I took steps to make resisting diabetes a scriptural struggle and that helped. Then I realised something else!
Jesus talks about casting an unclean spirit out, and finding that it just comes back stronger (unclean spirit - Gospels) - what I realised is, that diabetes works in exactly this way! It's not enough to just make this or that change, and then go back to where you started and think things are going to be fine. You have to actually pray "Lord, I am moving out of the diabetes 'house' and going to live where the Holy Spirit leads me, in Your Name Amen". The sooner you can put distance between yourself and the sickness of glucose levels that the Devil tempts you with, the better!
I'm not doing anything more than put Jesus' Word in context, here: hoping that you find that you can de-escalate the habit of eating food that aggravates your homo-cysteine levels (is that accurate?) into resisting the body's insulin (have I got that right?). Hopefully, there is time for you to develop normal levels of glucose in your body. Even if I have got the exact scientific details wrong, the principle of not simply "cleaning house" and actually "moving altogether" is something you should consider seriously (I am happy for someone to correct me on the science, I did a quick search and did not find anything about 'aggravating homo-cystine' levels, but I am fairly confident that resisting insulin wouldn't happen unless the body was provoked - aggravated - if you will).
I think it is a good idea to pray for this, for people struggling with diabetes, because I see it as something that 'life-style' especially in the West could really make worse, if the right self-control (read: the self-control Jesus' gives) is not found.
I hope this has been of some encouragement.
God bless.
