Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

He had to be God in order to fulfill the Law and be a sufficient sacrifice to die on our behalf. Sinless. Pure and spotless. And He had to be both man and God in order to bridge man to God, so to speak. Faith in Jesus is faith in God....it brings us (reconciles us) to God.
Sound it out sister for all to hear . POINT TO CHRIST JESUS till that last breath utters and ebbs outta those lungs

Jesus is sinless because He fully represents the Word of God. He did not act according to His own will; instead, He fully obeyed the Word of God, and He Himself is the very Incarnation of the Word.

It's like if God says to me, you're sinless. What can I say? I can only understand that I'm sinless.
How could He have fully represented the word of God and fully obeyed unless He was God manifest in the flesh and the Word made flesh? The scripture says He was in the form of God and equal to God before being found in the form of a man:

It is the first man Adam who was of the earth earthy. Jesus was the second man and last Adam who was a quickening spirit...not an ordinary man like we humans are.

As an Israeli, I can understand why the religious leaders wanted to crucify Him because of His very declarations for being equal with God, and therefore God. Scripture says that the fullness of Deity dwelt within Him bodily. No other man or angel could ever have claimed that. Getting tripped up over all this is a common phenomenon. What matters to us in relation to our salvation is our faith in what His death, burial and resurrection on the third day did for us and the sealing of our salvation in Him. No water baptism will ever do anything for anyone as a work given that we are saved by grace through faith alone, contrary to the pagan religions out there that say otherwise.

This is good discussion.

This is the problem: it is saying that we do not need to obey God, because we are not made in the image of God, and no matter how we obey, it has no meaning.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Some out there like to try drawing lines of parallel between faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ on the third day, and with obedience as unto the Law and the commandments that are an outline of the Law. That violates what Paul stated to us, in that it is not of ourselves, which is precisely what obedience is all about. Salvation is not at all based upon obedience except within the arena of word games, because if it were on the basis of obedience, then we have reason to boast:

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

So, if one boasts in his obedience, then he is...boasting, which will save not one soul except for those who were under the Kingdom Gospel and those who were under the Law, given that the Law saved nobody. Striving to be obedience, to them, was the required show of their faith. The Law, however, was never given to the Gentiles, which is why the Law and any of its requirements were placed upon the Gentiles.

Brother, Islam claims that God doesn't have a Son.....it sounds to me like that is what this quote is implying.

Arguing from St. Basil's words, Lightfoot thinks that in this treatise Eusebius dealt with the difficulty presented by the Patriarchs possessing more than one wife. But he overlooked the reference in the "Dem. Ev.", from which it would appear that the difficulty dealt with was, perhaps, a more general one, viz., the contrast presented by the desire of the Patriarchs for a numerous offspring and the honour in which continence was held by Christians.

It is not the original words of the Quran; the original words do not say this. It does not state that God has no son. What it says is that God is not begotten by humans, nor does God beget humans.

Do you think that God's only begotten son conflicts with that last statement, but Jesus was born of Mary, not God.

God creates human beings.
[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

Does the Koran reveal Jesus Christ as the way to the Father?
(4:171) People of the Book! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, and attribute to Allah nothing except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of Allah, and His command that He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him (which led to Mary's conception).

Quran 4:157 states that Jesus was not killed or crucified, but that it was made to appear that way to his would-be executioners.

(3:55) (And it was part of His scheme) when Allah said: 'O Jesus! I will recall you51 and raise you up to Me and will purify you (of the company) of those who disbelieve,52 and will set your followers above the unbelievers till the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me you shall return, and I will judge between you regarding what you differed.
51. The expression used is mutawaffika. The original meaning of tawaffa is to take and receive. To 'seize a person's sou!' constitutes the figurative rather than the literal meaning of the word.

Persecution Will Come

Is Jesus a prophet? Yes, he was the final prophet, none to come after him.

How do you explain the birth of Christ and the Nephilim?
The Bible says no marriage in heaven. Nothing about sex. ???
(maybe the Muslims are right about this? - LOL)

The Line of Seth View (Augustine, John Calvin, Graham Cole, Ken Mathews) which defines the sons of God as sons of Seth and the daughters of man the daughters of Cain.
The Kings of the Earth View (Meredith Kline, Walter Kaiser) which defines sons of God as the great warrior kings of old and the daughters of man as the women they, like Lamech (Gen. 4:19) forcefully took to themselves.
The Fallen Angel View (Gordon Wenham, Douglas Van Dorn) which defines the sons of God as angelic beings who had relations (marriage or not) with human women and sired giants with them.

This is the problem: it is saying that we do not need to obey God, because we are not made in the image of God, and no matter how we obey, it has no meaning.
