Yes, that is what I am saying...which is that the peace and rest of Christ is one thing and the rest of God another.

The fact that we remain in the flesh and in the world in part, by definition means that we have not fully ascended as Jesus has. Which by definition by the example of Jesus, is the way that one fully enters the rest of God. But this is technical hair splitting. Even so, Jesus eluded to there being a particular distinction, saying after his resurrection but before his ascension, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father."

My only point was to say that the rest of Christ is the rest that comes as a result of a promise, as compared to the full rest of God after our works here are also "finished."
I still believe that the Christian life is a life of rest. We rest in what Jesus has accomplished in our name and on our behalf.

So there are two different types of rest (the rest of Christ now (1), and the rest that only comes when the work is finished (2)), but you just want to refer to the one and make the point that "the Christian life is a life of rest."

Alrighty then.

"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God" Hebrews 4:9.

What is this rest that God is talking about?

A condition of experiencing compete Comfort, Peace, Tranquility.

Remember what Jesus said:

John 14:
[2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Remember when the faithful departed souls of men were with Abraham, IN hell, waiting to go to Heaven?
Yes, there was a large impassable Gulf division between the faithful and non-faithful departed souls of men IN hell…

We know they (faithful and non-faithful souls) could communicate via: seeing, speaking, hearing.

The non-faithful noted, inability to taste, to escape the unbearable feel of hot flames.

A faithful departed soul IN Hell, WITH Abraham was IN Comfort…
However the FACT IS, EVERY soul IN Hell, (regardless of Faithful or Not)…
Could see and hear….what other souls were experiencing.

No departed souls could LEAVE Hell…
UNTIL ??

Col 1:17
He that is Before (first) all things…
Departed soul arrives in Hell and Leaves Hell.

And THEN What?
Faithful departed souls IN Comfort with Abraham….Able to See and Hear the utter torments and discomfort of non-faithful departed souls…WOULD BE Escorted TO a PLACE Jesus Prepared.

It’s a two fold revealing…
An “inner” personal Comfort and Peace…
When the Lords Spirit is WITH a man, and or WITH-IN a man.

And A completion, WHEN “in addition” to the INNER Peace and Comfort a faithful departed soul experiences…….THAT same faithful departed soul…..
ONLY Sees and Hears OTHER faithful departed souls experiencing Comfort and Peace….
which ONLY occurs IN a place IN Gods Kingdom….to Whit Jesus revealed IS a Place, He prepared expressly for such Faithful Departed souls.

Glory to God,
Taken

Heaven would not be heaven if we could see those whom we love experiencing the agonies of hell.
