What do we look for in a new convert to give evidence of regeneration in their conversion experience? Bearing in mind that not everyone has an event, or day, to cite as their conversion time. It may have been more gradual. Either way, there should be some evidence that spiritual regeneration has taken place.

Would compliance with "church" expectations be a primary indication? Or are we looking for more? (or less) ???

What if the person isn't interested, or unable to "do church", for whatever reason? Can a person grow spiritually outside the church?

John MacArthur, Assurance of Salvation

In summary, spiritual regeneration is marked by a love for Christ and His people, a desire to be obedient, and a hatred of sin. And of course, believing all the essential doctrines.

Let's start with that.

How appropriate you'd resurrect this thread considering the recent passing of John MacArthur.

What do we look for in a new convert to give evidence of regeneration in their conversion experience?

Sin Sensitivity
A genuine love for Jesus
A evolving love for the Bible
A desire to be around Christians and good Preaching and good Bible Teaching.
A change of heart regarding their previous lifestyle, whereby they feel they should put away some carnal behavior.
And you'll see that they want to talk about their Salvation, and their Jesus.
Their family and friends will "note a serious change" in their behavior........"you are so different".

A new convert will be divinly inspiried to learn the bible.

THey will never be led of God to come to a "chrisitan forum" and try to cast doubt on it, as you have done the entire time you have been here @StSteven (according to your Threads and posts).
